Who: Maeko, Kiriko, possibly Kozue since they live together idk.
What: Letters
Where: The dorms.
When: Post-dungeon
Why: FURY

Maeko noticed she seemed to be initiating a lot of events by knocking on doors in the dorms in the last day or so.

This one would be no exception.

Kiriko, um, answered the door. Upon seeing Maeko standing there, she looked back into the room, then stepped aside to let her in.

"Uh... Are you here to see Kozue-san, Akuba-senpai?"

Maeko managed to calm herself down. Agression toward Kiriko would be a bad idea.

"You, actually. Misa-chan said she'd given you some letters she'd recieved. I don't mean to take them from you but I need to know what they said."

She eyed Maeko warily. The girl already looked a bit... well, frazzled. And those had been hard enough knocks that she thought maybe Reizo's mom had come back for a visit. Bringing the letters into the mix... but, on the other hand, who else would she be able to ask honestly?

She stood aside and waved her into the otherwise empty apartment, sitting on her bed and pulling out her schoolbag to root through them for the letters.

"What did she tell you about them?"

Maeko entered quietly.

"She didn't really remember what they said but she mentionned the possibility that they might be from the killer. Since she got that necklace, too, I'm concerned. I'm going to take her home with me for a few days just to be safe, my father is ex-directory so it shouldn't be easy to find if she is being targetted. If it's just a horrible joke then hopefully a few days will calm her down." She thought for a few seconds. "I thought if I saw them I might be able to tell if it was a joke or anything right away."

She unfolded each of the letters and spread them out on her bed in order, smoothing out the wrinkled paper as she did so. They'd been well-handled, from the look of them, but Kiriko had kept them in mostly good condition.

"I thought it might be the killer at first, too. But that doesn't really make sense - why would the killer target only Misaki? All of the other things that have happened have had multiple targets, right? And it's never been anything personal like this. I don't know. Shoe lockers are kind of a petty delivery system for..." she trailed off rather than finishing the sentence, frowning at the letters.

Maeko didn't think much of the first, turned pale at the second and just scanned quietly through the rest, distracted.

It took her longer than it really should have to read them.

"...that's right. It is kind of strange if the killer just targetted her." She agreed, mostly just repeating what Kiriko had said to buy herself time to make her brain work again.

"And shoe lockers are...a strange way of communicating this, especially since we're not in school anymore."

Some more thought and frantic attempts to stop staring at the second note.

"It's...I'll keep an eye on her for the next few days anyway just in case. It can't hurt to be careful, at least."

"... Look more closely at these notes."

She pointed to the part of the second note about wrist-slitting, then ran a slender finger under one line in the third note: I know EVERYTHING about you. She frowned hard at Maeko. It was difficult to come right out with her suspicions, so she started small:

"I think it was someone within the group who wrote this. And.. I have an ideo who. If we could collect handwriting samples and compare, that would put us closer to determining if it was one of us, but..."

... but who else could it be but Kanaye?

Maeko's mind was already taking this idea and running with it. Withing a few seconds her suspects consisted of Reizo, Kazuya, Kou and Keiichi. Possibly not Reizo, anonymous impersonal threats didn't seem like his thing. Kanaye was currently above suspicion. He wouldn't. He knew how important Misa was. In her mind, she felt she'd communicated to him just how much not to ever bring up the subject of Misa and suicide. (She hadn't, naturally. People were a lot less perceptive than she seemed to think.)

"...that's a-" It wasn't. "Not a relief but...If it's a group member they're more likely to be making empty threats. But still..."

She trailed of, scratching her hand and thinking.

"...I'll see if I can get people to write something down in the meantime."

She nodded. "I'll call you, then? Make sure you pay attention to who is reluctant to hand over something in writing, but I'd just ask them to sign a list or something if I were you. In the meantime, I'm going to conduct an investigation on my own."

By which she meant, ask Sagaki to steal a few notepages out of people's binders. The bigger the sample, the more likely a match would be found.

"Thank you for doing this." Maeko said, nodding. "I think we're done, then? I'll keep my phone on."

After seeing that second letter she needed air.
