Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:maeko, misaki

Who: Misaki and Maeko
What: Talking in the dorm
Where: Their dorm room
When: Post dungeon probably the next afternoon
Why: Misaki's got some confessions to make, applogies to do, and she's terrified.

Misaki sat under her covers of her bed and was holding onto the stuffed rabbit that her brother had recently gotten her. The soft fur was rubbing her cheek and she shivered. Kiriko had the letters for now, but when she would get those back. She thought that maybe after Tom felt better she would see him about them and maybe he could help her figure out who sent them. She was still praying for a joke.

But those letters, coupled with the memories of Tom, had sent her crashing down. She didn't know if she could feel happy for a while, namely because she was now terrified at the prospect of really being killed. After seeing Tom's Aunt Sarah shooting the guy, she had come to the realization that some people just couldn't be nice, no matter how hard you wanted to believe they were, they really were not, and this scared her. A LOT. She had been used to believeing that things could work out, that there was always a way to clear a mess up, now...she completely was questioning it, and it was not a good thing in her mind. She didn't want to give up in her belief, but the cold hard fact was that someone hated her so much that they wanted her dead.

She pulled her knees up to her chest and put her head down, sobbing into the covers. She wondered if this was how tom had felt. She would bake something nice for him and go see him when she could actually smile again.

Maeko was in a glorious mood. This had a lot to do with the cardboard box in her arms. After all, they probably did deserve some kind of treat for saving a life. And a really great bakery was between Kigakiga and the dorms.

"Misa-chan, you here? I'm back, I brought cake!"

...oh.

She set the box on top of a pile of stuff on her desk and sat on the bed in silence, stroking Misaki's hair.

"Hey, I'm here. It'll be fine, I'll make it fine. What happenned?"

Misaki looked up when she saw Maeko with the box and heard, the word cake. She smiled some softly and nodded, "Cake would be nice. How was everything? Did anyone go to see Sagaki-sempai? Is everyone else okay? How is Ren...I mean Sonozaki-sempai?"

Misaki leaned on her, "I've been aweful to you Maeko-chan. I've been hurting you haven't I? I'm such a stuipd friend to you. I...I shouldn't be so jealous of you and Kanaye-sempai. I..." she snuggled to Maeko a shiver running down her spine, "I don't want to die Maeko chan...I don't know what I did, but I don't want to die."

"I think Sagaki-senpai's going to be fine. I didn't manage to catch Sonozaki-san, I think she attends cram school."

She let Misaki lean on her, sighing and squeezing her hand. "Oh course you havn't. You're-"

...wait, DIE?

"You mean like in paradise? Don't worry. Anyone tries to hurt you and I'll break their nose, shadow or human. They'll have to go through me first. And Ito-san, too."

Keiichi would probably be more comforting. It wasn't like she was particularly scary.

"Oh, Okay...I'm just worried that Sagaki-sempai's going to be really really down after his dungeon. I feel sorry that Sonozaki-sempai said no, but I can understand why she may have. I mean it would be worse if she had said yes and really didn't like him like that right?" She looked at Maeko with nervous eyes.

Misaki paused, she wanted to say yes, wanted to not worry Maeko, but what if something did happen and the person came after Maeko next? She couldn't have that right? Resting on Maeko, Misaki sighed some softly and shook her head, "Well partly..but I don't want you getting hurt. I mean the person might send me more notes and I don't want them sending them to you too, Maeko-chan. I...I've been getting weird letters in my locker. I...I thought they might be a joke, you know, just someone mad I was dating Keiikun, but then they got really scary and well, Kirkio-chan found me reading them. I gave them to her because she was going to try to find out who sent them, I kind of want to ask Sagaki-sempai if he could help when he feels better. But...But I didn't want to worry you Maeko chan. "

She looked down at the sheet and whispered, "I already caused enough trouble as is."

Maeko nodded. "Of course it's good that she was honest. I'll be checking up of her tonight if she's back. But I'm sure she'll be okay..."

"Notes?" She asked quietly, listenning to what Misaki said.

Her expression turned hard.

"You should have told me about them sooner. What did they say?"

Misaki paused and nodded, "I got a bunch of notes in my shoe locker. But I'm glad that Renju-chan will be alright, and Tom-kun too."

"Um...you have to promise not to get upset Maeko-chan and run off looking for this person okay! Please! I really think it's just someone playing a really really bad prank on me that's all. Probably someone that's jealous or something." Misaki told her quietly and leaned against her some then sighed working up the courage.

"They were all basically just really nasty notes telling me that someone didn't like me and they didn't feel I should be around. I don't know who sent them. Some were with news print, other were hand written. They said they knew about me and such. That I didn't have anything to live for. It was just really stupid things," Misaki explained and bunched the covers. She knew if she mentioned about the fact that the letters said to kill herself then Maeko would really start to freak out. "Do you think it might be the person behind all of this? Maybe they think they can scare us away?"

All the progress Maeko had made over the last month crumbled in that second. 'Didn't have anything to live for' was apparently close enough for association.

"...I won't go home after all." She said, turning on her phone and starting a new message. "I'll still have to translate one night this week but...I'll figure something out then. I'll stay here with you for now."

The text message was to her mother, asking her to leave the key with thier neighbour intead.

That done, she looked around the room. "...but I'll still have to go to work. While I'm gone..." She took her desk chair and wedged it under the door handle. "Do this as well as locking the door. They shouldn't be able to enter from paradise if the door can't open anyway."

And with that she held out a hand. "Let me see them."

"No! Maeko-chan you made a promise to your mom, right!" Misaki said and grabbed her by the arms. "You are not going to break that promise. I don't even know if it's real or not! I'm going on the assumpition that it's a really bad joke okay, and...and you should too."

Was it forced, yes. Was she covering for her own fear, yes. But Misaki was going to be damned if Maeko broke her promise because of her. Misaki sighed, "Maeko-chan, I gave them to Kirkio-chan. She was going to look into them for me. And You should go. I'll...I'll stay by my brother's okay?! Or I'll, I'll go stay with Shojiro-sensei, or someone for that week. That way you'll know I'll be fine and you won't have to worry."

She took Maeko's hands, "I don't...I don't want you messing up your relationship with Sempai, or anyone else because of me. I've screwed up enough things in your life, and...and I know that. I'm clingy, I'm a cry baby, but you need to be able to not have to worry about me because then you'll be doing it all the time and that's not fair to you Maeko-chan. I want you to go home for a week. You'll see Kiriko-chan will find out who the letters are from and it's probably just some jerk who just wanted to scare me or something. You know the whole, 'Ha Ha lets scare the girl with pink hair because she gets scared easily.' thing. I swear to you it'll be okay. I promise I'll take care of myself. I want you to take care of yourself though too! Promise me you'll stay with someone when you walk around town. Please."

"You said yourself that it might be the killer." Maeko said, shaking her head. She deleted the message unsent anyway.

"Fine." She said, moving the chair back. "Pack up some clothes. I'll let my father know I'm having a friend stay over after all. I'm not going to leave you alone while this is going on and your brother's place is easy to look up in a phone book. I'll go ask Ikeda-san to show me the letters. I'll be back in a few minutes, keep the door closed until then."

And with that, she headed out of the door and locked it behind her.

Misaki wasn't sure what to say. She sighed feeling sightly defeated by the whole thing and glanced over at her bag. If she left then would the person win? Even so she couldn't argue with Maeko's logic. But still, maybe after talking to Kiriko and trying to figure out who sent the letters Maeko would see that it was all some dumb prank, right? Surely no one would really want her dead?

She glanced down at an over night bag and pulled out a few things. On the plus side at least she was getting to stay over by maeko's for once. She would keep out of the way as much as possible.
