Entry tags:gendou, kajiko, masami

Who: Kajiko, open
What: Relaxing
Where: The Tea Club room
When: At some point after classes
Why: "Because it's the Tea Club."

As usual, Kajiko was the first into the tea club's room after classes ended. It would be unseemly for the president to not be the first to arrive, after all. She didn't have any particular plans for the day, so she just got herself settled and began heating water.

While she was waiting for both the water to boil and for other members(or other people in general) to show up, she occupied herself by trying to think of other activities she could set up for the club. It was getting close to summer, so maybe she'd arrange for a beach trip or three. Or maybe she could go with the club to somewhere like, say, Osaka. She'd never been to Osaka before.

Regardless of what she did though, she was certain she'd be able to... appropriate the necessary funds successfully. She always did, after all.

Gendou sighed some, his grades were doing well, his teachers loved him, there were still enough people in the school that were actually friends with him. And yet, a smidge of guilt was still creeping under his skin about his actions towards Sakubura-chan and Sonozaki-hime. Not that he didn't feel his reasoning was in the right. Distraction of any sort away from Kin was a good thing. Rightly so considering now he had to deal with that idiot from Yosaburi High.

That galling fool! He had to simply come and make a mess of things. I was trying to keep that those five nitwits from the Basketball club had stolen that dumb panther. he thought as he walked along the corridor and paused when he sniffed the light aroma of tea in the air. Walking over to the door he knocke before sliding it open and peeking in. Seeing the tea club president he smiled.

"Ah Kajiko-chan! What a pleasent suprise. I'm so glad to see you this afternoon. Might I come in and share some tea with you please?"

Given what Kajiko had been thinking about, Gendou was just the perfect person to come in. Of course, just because he would be useful didn't mean Kajiko was happy to see him - he was irritating and she generally preferred not to deal with him unless she had to.

"I don't think I ever gave you permission to call me by name, Retsu. And I certainly never gave you permission to call me 'chan'. You will address me as 'Yamaguchi-san', is that clear?" Kajiko scolded, "...but, if you'd prefer to get on my bad side..." She let the threat hang. Most of the students of Nanakamado would probably already be gushing apologies and practically kowtowing to her. A reputation, be it justified or not, could be very handy, if used to your own advantage.

"You can come in though, if you want. It just so happens that I had some business to discuss with you." Though she didn't word it as such, the fact that she had mentioned having business to discuss made it all but a flat-out command.

"Ah, but 'Yamaguchi-san', you know quite well that threatening the student council president would be very bad academically. Besides, everyone else calls you 'Yamaguchi-san', I prefer the cute name of Kajiko, but if you want san to it then I'll do that Kaji-san." He said with a humous grin and waved off the converstation as if it was a fly in the wind."I thank you for your warm greeting.

He took a chair and pulled up a cup, "Oh really now, and what sort of business do you have to discuss with me?"

"I don't recall ever threatening you directly, Retsu. Besides, my family's donated enough to the school that anything you try to do to me will only fail. You're welcome to waste your time trying though," Kajiko shot back.

"I'll say it again, Retsu. You will address me as 'Yamaguchi-san'," she demanded. A short moment of silence followed before she said, "...By the way, Sakuraba seems to be pretty... unhappy with you recently. She mentioned something to me about you harassing her and her classmate... I believe it was Sonozaki? I'm just saying, rumors fly fast around here. Anybody could spread some lies and innuendo, and it'd be around the whole school within a day or two with no way of tracking the source. You should be careful."

"As for business, I was thinking of taking the tea club out over summer break. Perhaps to Osaka or Okinawa, to try some local teas..." she said as she poured Retsu a cup of the strongest oolong tea the club had. It was an extremely bitter sort that even Masami usually avoided.

Gendou lifted the tea up to smell it before he sipped it, "Well Yamaguchi-san, you are correct that rumors are rumors and soon enough other people will have other rumors to flap about. Like the fact that Shojiro-sensei has been talking a lot to Aoi-chan. Some are even beinging to wonder if those two are more then just casual friends."

He smiled some and blinked, "Osaka huh? Okinawa? Sounds like fun. Although you'd have to okay it through the school first of course. We'd need to get out permission slips to the parents and ecetera and so forth." A smirk slipped on his lips, "But...if you did this as a non club club activity, then you could get a way with several things. Like not needint the okay from parents."

"Kampai!" he cheered before taking a swig of the tea and almost instantly started to gag on it.

Masami happened to walk in just as Gendou started to gag on the tea he had been given. "Retsu-senpai..." she said, trying hard not to let any disdain get through to her voice. She didn't really succeed too well. "Umm, Yamaguchi-senpai, did you give him... that tea? Even I don't like that one much..."

"So... Retsu-senpai..." again, not really succeeding in hiding her dislike of Gendou, "what business did you have with the tea club?"

He coughed and sputtered some, "Ah...yes...well, ahem. Hello Sakubura-chan. Actually Yamiguchi-san here was asking about the chance for a trip to Osaka or Okinawa for the club..." the heated look he gave the tea club president indicated that he was considering reneging on that possiblity as of now, "and I was just explaining to her what she would need to do that."

He looked at the tea with some distan and pushed it aside. "So how is the Kendo club doing by chance Sakubrua-san? I do hope all is well?"

The look Kajiko shot back at Gendou was actually one more of smugness than anything else. She was quite happy with herself for having thought of giving him "that" tea in order to get her point across, and it seemed like it had worked given his referring to her as "Yamaguchi-san" finally.

"I do know exactly what I need to do to get any events OKed by the school, Retsu. I've been the Tea Club President for longer than you've been Student Council President you know," she said, then, as if to spite Gendou some more, she took a sip of her own tea, which was the same as that she'd given him. Unbeknownst to him, however, she'd slipped some sugar into hers while he was distracted with coughing and Masami's arrival.

"And yes, Sakuraba, I did give him that tea. For some reason I really just felt like it. Do you want some too?"

"...I'll pass on that and make some chrysanthemum tea, but thank you, Yamaguchi-senpai," Masami replied as she collected a tea pot and a container of dried chrysanthemums for tea.

"Retsu-senpai, didn't you know that both the boy's and girl's teams qualified for nationals this year? Also, I qualified for the individuals section of nationals this year too." Her tone had a hint of a 'you should know this already' flatness to it.

He made a look at the tea cup and pushed it aside then sighed some, "Yes so I heard. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping abreast of current events. Some matters came up which took my full attention. Those matters should be cleared up soon enough though...hopefully."

He paused and looked at Kajiko, "Actually it was mandated after what happened to Amori-sensei. Considering that the school board, even after I told them that it was a repugnent rule, insisted that students now have some verification that their parents are okay with them taking trips and that they will not be blamed should anything occure to said students. Personally I think it's rather disheartening."

Gendou stood, took the tea and poured it out the window on to some flowers below, "Watering the plants. Now may I try a different tea if you please?"

"Well, the school always preferred that students get a permission form signed anyway. This really doesn't change that much. But I'll agree with you, it is an annoying rule," Kajiko replied. It was rare for her to agree with Gendou, but it did happen occasionally.

"Wait until Sakuraba finishes the chrysanthemum tea. That's her new favorite."

Gendou smiled some, "Why Yamaguchi-san, it's a delight to see you agree with me. I keep telling them that they should change it, but do they ever listen to me, no. Never, even when I point out the benefits of the ideas the students hand out."

"Why are we waiting for the tea now?" he looked puzzled.

"It takes some time for tea to steep, Retsu-senpai. Otherwise the flavor doesn't come out as well and it's not much different from just drinking hot water. It depends on the kind of tea how long you should let it steep," explained Masami, "Just be patient, it should be ready in a couple seconds."

After almost literally a couple seconds, Masami poured some tea for both herself and Gendou, and sat next to Kajiko as she took a sip.

Gendou looked at it and then took a gentle sip. "Hummm, very very tasty." He smiled some, "Alright on to business ladies. So.." he clapped his hands together taking in everything that was around them and tryint to think of a reason behind the full on discussion. "What can I do for you regarding getting what you want?"

"Well first of all we need the paperwork required to register the event with the school," Kajiko replied, then took another sip of that tea. "We also need funding from the school for any trip we want to take as a club. We'd need you to get that for us too."

Gendou watched as she drank it and blinked some with a queer raised eyebrow look, "How is it that you can drink that stuff? Seriously, you must have an iron stomache and throat Yamaguchi-san."

He sighed, "Hold it one second here, I can get you the paper work, but you have to raise your own money for that trip. The school can only provide half of the payment, and you have to get at least two teachers, if your group is ten or more to go with you to your destination."

"It's an acquired taste. If you can't handle it, you just aren't cultured enough," Kajiko replied, throwing in a little dig at Gendou, "You don't have to necessarily like it. Look at Sakuraba. Even she doesn't like it much, but she can still handle drinking it."

"We won't have more than ten people anyway. There aren't even that many people in the club," said Kajiko. "It is the Tea Club, after all."

"Really? Your predecessor always managed to secure us full funding from the school. Surely you could do the same, Retsu. Unless you just really aren't up to his level..."

Gendou kept smiling but physically twiched some, "I see, but then again tea is not everything in culture." He glanced over at Masami and said point blank, "But Masami-chan didn't drink any. She simply went over to get her own tea. Besides there's a difference between being cultured and being classy. You may be the former, but have yet to be the latter in the eye of most of your peers Yamaguchi-san."

"I see," He nodded and made a mental note to double check the updated sheet of members. "Well then that would mean one teacher and at least one other adult to go with you."

At this Gendou's frown returned and the twich was back, "My predesscor had deals to be made with various administrators. The fact was that since the episodes happened including Sato-kun's, the staff has been hard nosed with any student, fearing we might go and blab to the media or something. So what I can get for you I will, but it's not about me being up to the level, it's about the fact that the admistration if afraid of loosing more students and having the school shut down."

He looked at her seriously, and suprisingly probably looked rather cool at this moment, "The fact is that they are terrifed of what is going on. They may not point it out but they are. The student coucil is don't all it can to keep things calm, and so far it's been quiet, but that doesn't mean that we have complete control. And teachers are starting to be rather...annoyed with people that are busying around."

He turned his eyes quickly to Masami indicating to her that he was meaning the Antibullying club.

"Oh, I would think most consider me classy," Kajiko shot back, "A few unfounded rumors are hardly enough to counter that. One can be eccentric, but still have class. You should know that from personal experience, Retsu."

"And Sakuraba has, in fact, had this tea before. I can attest to that. Like I said, it's an acquired taste, and not one that you'd want to have every day."

"I can get the club's advisor to come along. That should be fine. I'll find another adult. Someone in the club's mother should be able to come if it's necessary."

"Well, I'm sure someone of your ability would be able to secure more than the bare minimum of what the school's normally willing to pay," Kajiiko said, knowing that Gendou liked being complimented. Of course, for each compliment she gave him, she still had to add a jab. "Unless, of course, I'm overestimating you."

"Unfounded or not, and that is true, but still, conconcting to get me to drink this. Very deciving." Gendou smiled some, "I like that about you."

"As long as they agree to it and can be able to follow the rules I think it's fair enough. However, just be sure that they clear it with their work first." Gendou explained as he sighed, "We've had problems with the swim team about that, recently too."

He smiled, "I could indeed," and that smile became a new twich, "If of course I could find the right businesses to pay some investments into the club. That is of course if I had a rather nice tea service that could be showcased. I wonder...where could I find that? I mean, certainly not your group, since, after all, you're still learning...right?"
