WHO: Kenjiro, Masami, Keiichi, Renju
WHAT: Working out refreshments for Kendo (Wrestling) Tournament
WHERE: School
WHEN: After school
WHY: In the words of my friend John's grandma, "WHY NOT?"

"Go find that son o'mine. He'll hit that shit up..."

"That son o'mine" referred to Keiichi, the head of the Cooking Club. "That shit" was refreshments for the Kendo (Wrestling) Tournament. The speaker was Kenjiro Ito, the school's gym teacher.

And he was speaking to Sakuraba Masami, star kendoka, who was stuck with this responsibility because the Kendo (Wrestling) Club Captain was off trying to get local businesses to sponsor the event, while Shirou was, presumably, off on a date with Yoshimi that he was EXTREMELY PUMPED for.

"OK, Ito-sensei. I'll go," was all Masami said to acknowledge the order she had just been given by the Kendo (Wrestling) Club adviser. All too happy to get away from Ito-sensei, she calmly slipped on her flip-flops(She did at least have a separate pair just for school, though she was still the only person who could get away with wearing flip-flops in school), and left the gym to head for the cooking club's room.

She was lucky that it was just Ito-sensei today. It was rare for Shirou to actually miss practice, but she suspected that he was out with Yoshimi or something. If he had been there, she probably would've left practice early. With the team practicing almost every day for the upcoming tournament, Masami had had enough of "SHIROU!!!" "ITO-SENSEI!!!" for the next 2 months. Luckily summer break was coming up soon.

Finally reaching the cooking club room, she knocked on the door before sliding it open a little. "Ito-san?" she asked as she stuck her head in.

In the Cooking Club room, Keiichi was busily preparing an example dish of scalloped potatoes for the following day's meeting. Many of the Cooking Club members had wanted to learn something different, and Keiichi figured that the potatoes would suffice.

They were also one of Keiichi's father's favorite dishes.

"Come on in," Keiichi called, not really looking to see who it was. After a moment, he looked up, spotting the kendoka in the doorway.

He knew her...vaguely. Mostly from retrieving her and several others from Paradise what seemed like ages ago. She unnerved him slightly. Probably was the poise. Or the calm. "Sakuraba-san. What can I do for you?"

Masami still wasn't entirely sure what she thought of Keiichi. Originally she had placed him as a more down-to-earth person than most of the rest of the team. However, after his outburst that time in Paradise, her view of him had been shaken rather considerably. Something was still telling her that he was just another self-righteous idiot, but Masami buried that part deep down. When she spoke, whatever negative feelings she might have were completely masked behind her calm demeanor.

"Well... your father... Ito-sensei sent me here. It's about the upcoming Kendo tournament," Masami began, "You know, the one that's being hosted here on the 14th. He wanted me to ask you about the cooking club handling refreshments for it..."

She was...Keiichi couldn't quite classify her as "odd." Dignified, maybe. Calm, definitely. Creepily so? Borderline? He might have been imputing that last bit considering her skill with the sword.

"Dad," he said, shaking his head. "I guess his "pansy" son is good for something every so often. I'm sorry, though. That's not your concern. We can take care of refreshments. What sort of things are you looking for? I know Dad likes Western style stuff, like popcorn..."

Screwing up his face in concentration for a moment, he continued to think. "Sonozaki-san's here working on something. I should probably ask her, too. Sonozaki-san? If you're not busy, could I ask you to help me with something?"

Thursday was usually a free day for Renju anyway. This particular day, she'd had no clean-up duties, and the teachers were mostly starting to assign less coursework and put more emphasis on studying for exams. She'd mostly caught up on hers the previous day, so there wasn't much that needed to be done besides study.

The library had been impossible to concentrate in today, though; one of the first-year classes had some research project they were working on, and all the procrastinators had picked that day to crowd the place. Rather than bother going back to the dorm just yet, she'd ended up going to the Cooking Club room to try to make a half-decent late lunch (she'd read through the normal lunch period, as she sometimes did), and, since she was there, agreed to help Keiichi with prep work for the next day's meeting.

She looked up, hearing her name called, and... ah. Masami. For a moment, she just looked back down at the potatoes she was preparing (and the peeler she'd barely managed to avoid slicing her finger open with just now). Then, steeling herself, with a sigh, she set the cutting board aside and walked over to where the two of them stood. "What is it?"

Masami looked away for a moment, thinking. "I don't really have any preference myself... Is it OK for you to decide?"

"Sonozaki-san," Masami said with a slight bow, "I was sent here by Ito-sensei to ask about refreshments and lunch for the upcoming kendo tournament..."

Keiichi scratched at his chin for a few moments. "That shouldn't be a problem, really. How many people are you looking at for this? Refreshments are pretty easy. Actual meals gets harder depending on how many people there'll be at the tournament."

"Well... lunches would only be for the team itself. There are 10 people on the team, plus Ito-sensei if you count him," Masami replied. She looked away for a moment, thinking. "As for general refreshments though, I have no idea how many people there will be."

"Sorry if this is too much trouble. The team can get its own lunches if it's easier that way..." she added with a bow.

"Ten people," he asked, breathing a sigh of relief. "That's no problem. I could probably prepare them on my own if I absolutely had to, though it might be tight..."

Ito looked at Sonozaki-san briefly. "Would you mind helping me out? I think Aoi-san's going to be busy. We'll have a couple of the other members of the club to help out, but I don't think I can trust them with important tasks."
