WHO: Keiichi, Kiriko.
WHAT: Discussion of recent events.
WHERE: ~the secret base~
WHEN: Post-trip.
WHY: Everybody's a bit freaked.

Though she did not manifest some of the more typical and telling signs, it was noticeable that Kiriko was shaken by the recent events. For one, she strode down the hall just a little too quickly for someone who was completely calm - the way she moved suggested she worried that something dark and dangerous was nipping at her heels. She kept her head down as she made her way through the mostly-abandoned corridor, turning into the last classroom on the left.

She shut the door behind her first and checked for Keiichi later, who she found sitting at the opposite end of the classroom.

She looked grave and a bit frazzled as she walked forward and leaned against a desk opposite him.

"What did you need me for, Ito-san?"

His past, though limited dealing with Ikeda-san had taught him that getting right to the point was best. She was a busy person, what with her class rep duties and Ikebana Club membership.

And so, at the risk of overwhelming her with information, he got right to the point.

"First of all," he began, "on the way out of the museum, while everyone was busy trying to get back to the registration counter, I saw a group of four people trying out the Paradise rumor. One of them was Sonozaki-san, from Cooking Club. Another was Sakuraba-san, the school's kendo champion. There was also that really serious third year guy, Tanaka-san I think, and Mizushima-san...I THINK she's third year? Regardless, I followed them all inside and saw them get their personas. I tried to give them a bit of information, but really, they need to talk to all of us as a collective."

There, point one done. The second bit was...a bit trickier, oddly enough.

"Secondly," Keiichi began, ever so slightly hesitantly, "I was out past curfew on the night before the last day of the trip. Sagaki-san pulled me into some bushes because he saw Aomori-sensei coming towards us. The two of us saw him on the night before he died. Sakuraba-san may also have seen him, but I'm not positive."

Well, a lot for one sitting yes, but there it was.

To the first, she responded with only a sigh and visible deflation. At the rate this was going, the whole damn school was going to wind up as persona users... On the other hand, maybe that was better - power in numbers, and all.

The second piece of information caused her to immediately stiffen.

"Did he look well? Was anyone following him? Or do you really think it was another case of Paradise...?"

"To be absolutely honest, I didn't notice much about him."

Had Keiichi known what was to happen, of course, it was likely that he'd have paid more attention to the poor gym teacher. As it was though...

"The best bet here for information is probably Sakagi-san, much as most of the group doesn't especially like him. He's extremely observant. If anyone noticed anything, it's likely going to be him."

The slight annoyed face Keiichi made gave a solid indication of what he thought of that fact, but facts were difficult things to argue with.

Kiriko frowned and nodded, contemplative. She didn't much care for those facts either, and certainly wasn't eager for a follow-up with Sagaki. Either way, it was the same as Sato- no way of knowing anything.

"Are you okay?"

She never much cared for the gym teacher, but everyone was rattled by his death - surely it would be worse to have seen him so recently before it happened...

Taking a deep breath in, and blowing it out, Keiichi answered about as honestly as he could. "Okay? Not really, no, but I don't think there really *is* a way to be okay in our situation. We...don't know enough about what's going on. Two people in our school have died. One's a student, one's a teacher."

There was also, of course, the minor fact that none of the were really trained for combat -- except Shirai. And Sakuraba, now that he thought about it. More certainly seemed to be helpful when it came to persona users.

"At least we're getting better at getting along," he concluded, in an effort to end the statement on a positive note. "Some of us, anyway."

...so much for that.

"Three people have died, actually," Kiriko corrected. "Remember? A student died in a car crash a little while ago. Do you know anything about this one? If they can find a cause of death then it isn't really like Sato-san's death, either..."

Kiriko shifted uncomfortably. She seemed to struggle internally with whether or not she should speak, and when she eventually decided in favour, she did so with her eyes not quite meeting his.

"I don't know why they're asking me to lead, it's not as if I can do anything. Picking someone arbitrary and saying 'you're in charge' won't help us get along, or find out any new information, or anything like that. I don't think any of us know what to do right now, anyway...?

He had forgotten about the other student. What..the Hell WAS happening around here, anyway?

"I..don't think you're an arbitrary pick at all, Ikeda-san. Realistically, there are only a few of us I'd say who can be composed enough to do it. To be absolutely blunt, I'd say it's either you or I, and, well..."

They were very different people, who'd likely have different styles of leadership. But she had one key advantage.

"You have a better chance of being able to control Shirai-san than I do. That alone makes you a better candidate than I am."

Kiriko bristled. Goddamn Shirai. She liked him much better when she only had to work with him by choice and Kanaye-the-problem-child wasn't making problems people were looking at her to fix.

"Ugh, if everybody would just know their limits it wouldn't be a problem at all."

She sighed, or perhaps huffed, casting her eyes around the classroom for something distracting and coming up with nothing.

"You haven't really told me what you needed me for. I mean, all of what you've said - it's just going to have to be repeated at the meeting."

"Everyone knowing their limits is impossible," he pointed out, "because Shirai-san has no limits. I want to grind Satou-senpai's head into a tree lots of times. Doesn't mean I actually do it."

Really, he understood: the two of them seemed to...know each other? Friends wasn't likely, but Reizo and Kiriko knew who each other was. Possibly a history there?

Not that he cared. He just didn't like Reizo being held to a lower standard than everyone else, Yakuza connection or no Yakuza connection.

Keiichi cocked his head to one side. "Really...who else can I talk to about this sort of thing," he asked rhetorically. "You're one of the few people who takes this entire situation as seriously as it should be. Whether or not you're our leader..."

It was harder than he expected trying to find the right words for it. She could be very standoffish when she wanted to be. Very dismissive in tone, very self-satisfied.

"I guess I just trust you, Ikeda-san," he finally said, shrugging his shoulders. "Leader or not, you were the first person I thought to tell about these things. I think it's because you're a responsible person."

It was much harder to hear these things than it should have been - Kiriko felt pulled in opposite directions. It was nice to be recognized, and as leader no less. It meant people felt she was smart and responsible, right? Or maybe it meant they were just looking for someone to point at when things went wrong. Either way, being leader was damned useless, and so far didn't seem to amount to anything other than playing counseller for the group.

"Thanks," she muttered. "I guess that's worth something. The meeting's soon, though - shall we go?"

Shit. He'd almost forgotten about the meeting.

"Sure," he replied, easily enough. Maybe they'd figure something out. Hell, just even HAVING a meeting was a win at this point.
