Who: Toru and Misaki
What: Taking a walk around town.
Where: Iburi, mostly the shopping district, Subako department store, and the parks.
When: early evening, a day or two before the trip.
Why: Because it would be fun.

Misaki had gone home after school and quickly changed. She knew that her parents wouldn't mind her out, so long as dinner was ready before she left and that she came back early enough that it wasn't totally dark. Pulling on a skirt with small flowers, matching top, and a light tan denim jacket. Cooking dinner and then setting it up to be easily re-heated. Misaki grabbed her bag and rushed out of the house, locking the door of course, then headed back to the school and towards the dorms.

She was half walking, half skipping when she arrived at the path that lead to the dorms and noticed that there wasn't too many students out, even though it was a nice evening. Must be that they're all getting ready for the trip. Walking at a slower pace she went down some steps and down a neatly created path to Toru's building was. Heading in she let the dorm guard at the desk know who she was going to see and was told to head up stairs.

"Thank you!" she smiled as he nodded reminding her of the curfew and that girl's couldn't come in after nine at night. Nodding Misaki took the wooden stairs two at a time, in her excitement -nearly tripping twice as she did so- she giggled and almost missed the floor she needed to be on. Doubling back she headed down the hall and counted the doors till she came to Toru's and knocked.

"Toru-kun? Are you in?" she asked sweetly.

Toru was expecting his guest, for once. With nothing else to do, he'd been sitting on his bed, re-reading a volume of a manga he hadn't touched in a while. Upon hearing the knocking on the door and Misaki's voice, he jumped up, leaving the book open where he sat so he could finish it later.

"Yeah, I'm in. H-how are you, Misaki-san?" he said, opening the door. "Er, let's get out of the dorms, first off." Upon saying this, he stepped out and closed the door. The first year was still dressed in his school uniform, not having planned anything like a real outfit for the occasion. This was for the best, though, considering Toru's taste in clothes.

	"I'm good, were you busy with anything?" Misaki asked him and grinned. "Ah...okay. Oh I got you something at the store." she rummaged around in her bag and produced a small capsul,"They had them for 250 yen, so I got two. It was a mix of anime characters. 	"If you want to, I wound up with a bunny charm, see," she held up her phone to him. "Hummm by the way...there's a small book sale going on in the park, I hear they may have some older rare managa and anime titles...that is um...if you wanted to go." Toru took a look at the charm. Cute, not a rare one by far, but cute. He recognized the series it came from and wondered if his would also be related to it somehow, which wouldn't be a bad thing. After all, he didn't have all of its merchandise... but he'd save opening it for later.

"I... I'll leave this as a surprise for now, I think. A-and that book sale sound like a good idea... I hadn't heard about it, but I'd love to see if they had anything I needed." He started to walk, keeping an eye on Misaki.

"It what? Nice? Around me?" Toru could not fully comprehend what she was saying.

She nodded gently and laughed some, "I just mean that I don't feel like...like I have to act a certain way around you Toru-kun. Like I could just be happy being around someone that's kind and likes the same things I do. So it feel nice...like a warm feeling, a cuddly blanket."

She walked down the stairs with him and picked up some paper and a pen on her way out, waving to the guard who reminded Toru of curfew. He seemed pleased that the boy was getting out more. Misaki pulled out another pen from her bag and gave it to him, "Here...we can write down where we found items and that way we can come back and get them after we look around and see what they have."

"Oh, like... that... Thank you... Misaki-chan." Toru supposed he was lucky to have a friend like her. She was so sweet, cared about his interests, took time out to interact with him... and she was still somehow popular with pretty much every other guy at school, barring Kou and Reizo. It really made him wonder, that...

As they walked, he accepted the pen from her. "Oh, okay. I can do that." Most likely, the otaku would end up finding only one or two things at the sale that caught his eye, but keeping even a short list was less of a pain that memorizing them.

The pair made their way towards the park.

"You're welcome Toru-kun," she said smiling then turned and walked backwards as she chatted, "You know it's funny, we see each other every day but I don't know a thing really about your family. What are they like?"

She figured at the park she would be able to find a few things that she wanted to get to stow away with her and her DVD player she was taking so she could watch while her room mates slept. It wasn't that she was additcted to the shows, she just prefered to watch them when she was in the quiet of a room and didn't have to explain to people who...'didn't get it.'

Toru shrugged a little. "My family isn't really from around here... I lived in Sendai, on the main island, until middle school. They all still live down there. My mom, my dad, Yuuki-nee-san... they're all super-busy with their jobs. That's pretty much it." He didn't pretend to care that much about his family's business that much. They were what they were, and he was what he was. Two separate things.

He continued onward, and soon saw the park they were headed for in the distance.

"I see, they're a lot like my family...my Kaasan is a professor at the university and is always working. My dad's a mathmatician and is always in his home office doing some sort of paper, I can never figure it out, my sisters are busy all the time, so I have to look after my younger siblings." Misaki said and fell into step beside him. She kicked a stone with her foot and looked up at him.

"What's Sendai like? I've never been out of Hokkaido."

"Sounds tough... But, I guess you're good with kids now, right?" He stuck his hands in his pockets. "What's it like to have so many siblings, anyway? I've only ever had Yuuki-nee-san, and she's eight years older than me, so..."

He paused and looked off. "Sendai's nothing to write home about... it's just another city like this one. It doesn't get quite as cold down there in the winter, and there are more universities, but it's honestly not all that different." Toru sighed a little bit.

"Well mostly I suppose. Tomako helps me a lot, he's my younger brother. He's in the same grade as Emi-chan, and Keito and Nami can be a handful they're in first grade. I had to get a new phone because of them...they tried to make my old one float in water," Misaki explained as they walked and thought for a bit. "It...it's tiring to be honest. I have two older sisters, an older brother, who's getting married in August, Tomako, Keito and Nami, they're twins, my mom and my dad, and we were supposed to get two puppies. So it can be difficult when my mom's out all the time, Niisan is busy with his bride, Hotoro, my eldest sister is working and going to medical school so she's always crabby about something, Shizuka-neesan is only two years older then me and a math major, and she's usually just...er...I think the term hippy applies...I'm not sure, but they don't help a whole lot, and my dad's busy in his office..."

She blushed some, "Sorry I must sound like I'm ranting to you now. At least you only have one older sister, what's she like?"

"Heh, I would rather just see a differnt city in another area, then stay here all the time...but...I think I would miss Iburi if I had to leave. It would mean being away from people that I like." Misaki smiled at him.

Toru smiled. "Wow, your family sounds like a handful. Is it fun? My only knowledge of families like that comes from anime, so..." He took one hand out of his pocket to scratch his head. "Yuuki-nee-san... she's nice, but she's just as busy as my parents. We haven't really talked much since I came to Nanakamado; not even online. She's working at a bank back home, since she's so good with numbers... but I don't even know if she has a boyfriend or anything. It's not a big deal, either way."

"Well, living in Iburi isn't a bad idea! You could stay here when you grow up, but then go traveling everywhere! That's what planes are for. And that way, you could stay around the people you like, even if they leave Iburi."

Misaki paused, "Honestly, no. My mother and father are never really around. So it...I'm sure for other families it's fun. But mine...I tend to see my friends as my family. My mom's not really too happy I'm going on the school trip. She doesn't think it's going to help with my college application."

"Your sister sounds nice! Have you tried writing her a letter? Maybe you can suprise her with one. That way she can call you," She smiled happily, "Do you ever miss home? Iburi's nice, I guess, it's just that..." she paused and noticed the park.

"Hey look, there's a lot of stalls there."
