Who: Shiori + Toru
What: Shiori sneaks into Toru's room
Where: Toru's room
When: Not during school, LOL.
Why: They need to create something ~*~beautiful~*~

Of course Shiori knew that Ishinomori was probably still recovering from the other world, and of course Shiori knew that it was probably for the best to leave him be. But after being in a video game for so long, Shiori wondered if he really wanted to play any at the moment. And just in case he didn't, she was there to help.

Or, rather, she would be in a few minutes. Having slunk inside the boy's dorm as sneakily as possible (read: it was so obvious she was there) and relying on her photographic memory to guide her to Ishinomori's room (read: she asked a first year), Shiori ignored the people that totally weren't staring at her and continued her way along the hall leading to his room. Though she maybe could have passed for a boy if she still wore her school uniform, the fact that she had changed while she had been at home only emphasized the fact that there was an intruder in the boys' dorm. An intruder wearing a skirt and carrying an armful of sketchbooks and notebooks and a bag of colored pencils, to be exact.

Finally reaching his door after her long and perilous journey, she shifted all the books to one arm in order to knock lightly on his door. She wasn't about to be as rude as to barge in where she didn't belong! That'd be so impolite of her.

Toru heard the knocking and stumbled off of his bed. He'd been sleeping a lot, lately, and thinking, too. It probably helped that his computer and television had been confiscated by school authorities until he could prove he was a healthy, sane student who wouldn't skip school repeatedly and pass out from mysterious causes generally accepted as 'playing too many video games.' This left him to contemplate the ramifications of his disappearance, Shadow form, and role in the whole situation. Not pleasant.

He reached the door, fully expecting it to be school authorities or perhaps even his parents, who claimed they'd have left by now but whom he didn't believe at all. Opening it, he was surprised to see Shiori instead.

"W-wakanata-sempai? What are you doing here?" He was thoroughly shocked by her showing up. Hadn't his Shadow done terrible things to the exploration team?

Moving to once again hold everything with both arms, Shiori waited patiently for Ishinomori to answer. If he was still weak from the dungeon, then maybe he was sleeping and recovering? In any case, she doubted he'd answer the door right away. Of course, she was still really relieved when he finally did open the door. And, from the expression on his face, she was beginning to second-doubt herself as well. Maybe this was a bad idea.

"Um, sorry for showing up without saying anything, but..." she jerked her head up slightly, as if that would explain what she meant. "But, um... those levels that we played on were really imaginative and this probably sounds really weird but I want to practice drawing people more and you're way better at coming up with things than I am and-" she paused to take a breath. "-and doyouwanttodoadoujinshiwithme?"

Even if the levels were a little weird, the ideas behind them were really genius. To be able to incorporate so many different styles of gaming into one cohesive mix...

She was positive that he was the one to help her. She needed to draw people in action more and he needed (or, well, maybe needed?) a distraction. Hopefully it would work out.

He took one look at the supplies she carried and began to reach a conclusion. What she said was the confirmation. Toru put one hand on the frame of the door and looked her squarely in the eyes.

"I can't take responsibility for anything... he... thought up... If that place was from my mind, it was a deep, dark part of it that I don't like using. That being said..." He paused. As much as Toru hated to be associated with the distressing imagination of that Shadow, she did have a point. Toru frequently had new ideas for things considered 'artistic,' but hardly had the ability to put them to paper. And if she could help him do that... well, she was an excellent artist. It could be a chance for him to make his world a little more beautiful.

"I don't see why it would hurt. Maybe if my ideas can be put onto paper, they won't be able to come out in the way they did before... and I do need something to keep me occupied..." He indicated the interior of his room. "They took my computer and game systems away."

For a second, he paused. "What kind of doujinshi would you want to make?"

Shiori blinked. Just because his shadow had some more twisted ideas didn't mean they couldn't use a lighter version of them. But if Ishinomori wanted to scrap the whole experience altogether, then Shiori would be fine with that too. If Ishinomori was going to be coming up with the ideas, then really it was up to him. Shiori would draw whatever he wanted.

Grinning brightly when he eventually agreed, Shiori chirped out a quick "great!" before blinking at his question. He was asking her? She didn't know what kind of series he was familiar with, and she was so picky about art that she didn't watch much anime or play many games. But she would learn about the series if he wanted to do a specific one.

"I'm fine with anything!" she told him. "I'll draw whatever you want me to! But these books are kind of heavy. Would you mind if I came in..? I won't touch anything, I promise!"

It seemed kind of ridiculous to plot a doujinshi in a doorway, anyway. Still, she was so glad he agreed. Maybe he'd give her enough things to draw that she wouldn't have to take along her sketchbook to the other world. Maybe she could actually focus there and help out her teammates, instead of drawing their struggles.

...not that that wasn't fun. But she could draw fictional people and their struggles instead.

Toru became dimly aware that perhaps Shiori would be uncomfortable standing there with all of her art supplies.

"Would you like to sit down or something? I still have my chair and desk, even if my computer's gone." He moved out of the doorway, allowing for Shiori to enter, and sat down upon his bed. There was the small niggling doubt that told him that he probably shouldn't be letting girls into his dorm room, even if they were his friends or whatever. But Toru was never really good with that sort of thing, and ignored it.

"Um... you can look through my mangas and stuff to see if there's anything you'd really want to draw..." He vaguely indicated the piles of tankobon lying everywhere. "I'm sure you'll find something good."

Moving further in as soon as Toru was out of the way, Shiori went and dumped her stuff on his desk. Massaging her hands as she looked around to get rid of the soreness from carrying the books for so long, Shiori turned when Ishinomori told her to look through the manga. Nodding in agreement, she filtered through her books before finally finding her most recent sketchbook. Walking over to Ishinomori, she handed it to him.

"You can go through this then and see if it gives you ideas. It's, um.. my most recent one. So there's stuff from the other world.." she said, the realization hitting her that perhaps he wouldn't want to see stuff that his shadow had created. Hastily, she brought it back and flipped it to a picture with no background but one lone figure on the page. One very naked, very realistically drawn figure. As an artist who preferred detail as opposed to the cartoon-y style, she aimed for making her pictures look as though they were a photograph.

Of course, the chances of anyone taking a picture Shirai Reizo naked was about as close to zero as one could get.

Handing it to Ishinomori, totally unashamed of herself for having drawn such a thing, she proceeded over to Ishinomori's manga. Selecting one at random and reading a couple of pages, she said, "This reminds me a lot of our group. Only Shirai-kun is a girl in here instead of a guy.."

She read another page before asking, "You've heard that rumor about Shirai-kun's stuff, right? Do you think if he were a girl he'd have really big boobs then?"

Toru was more than happy to accept Shiori's sketchbook, and nearly brought to the floor in shock by the image she left it open to.

"Y-you... drew this? I thought he didn't ever..." He trailed off. The mixture of thoughts and emotions swirling around in Toru's brain was a heady one, and it made him quite dizzy. This was getting to be an issue. It was one thing to idly wonder things about his classmates, but quite another to have this bizarre fixation, especially concerning someone like Reizo. The picture was a bit too much, especially considering the detail put into it. He turned the page.

"Well, you've got a good style. Really good. Do you think you can actually do sequential art, though? It's different than just drawing one-shot illustrations..." He noticed that she had picked out a manga, and changed course. "Oh, that's... well, that character is one of those tough biker girls you always see in stuff from the 70s and 80s. I guess she is like Reizo, if Reizo was a girl."

At the next question, he choked a little bit. "I've heard the rumor, and seen a lot more. We're in gym class together, you know." Toru could feel a blush creeping up on his face. He willed it to stop. "It's... true. And I suppose if he was a female character, that would translate to big boobs. But, um... why?"

Turning to look over her shoulder, Shiori spotted the picture and blushed lightly. It was just a picture, but she should have been more wary about giving it to any guy, let alone Ishinomori. She really was insensitive to people...

"I swam with him one day and kind of... guessed the rest," she explained, turning to 'browse' the manga once again. Hopefully he wouldn't ask why she would draw that, and she had the feeling "I wanted to practice!" wouldn't go too well. Though it was Ishinomori, so maybe he would understand...

Thankfully, he changed the subject and Shiori turned around once again and wandered back over to Ishinomori, the manga still in hand. Sitting on his bed a comfortable distance away, Shiori gave a shrug.

"Hee, we'll find out! It can't be too different, can it?" she asked. "It's just more pictures on a page!"

And then at his next question, Shiori grinned.

"What if instead of doing something based off of a manga, we just make one based off of Dee what's happening to us? We can change the genders so if someone does find it, they wouldn't automatically think, 'oh, Ishinomori-san is inserting himself into a fantasy manga now.' Gotta protect the identities, you know?"

Toru put the sketchbook down by his side so he wouldn't be too distracted while talking to Shiori.

"You... swam with him? Sempai, should I even ask?" He couldn't help but take another glance at the drawing. "It was a good opportunity, I guess..." He trailed off, not sure what to say until he noticed she was sitting at the opposite end of his bed.

"Er... that might be a good idea! The things that've been going on seem like they come from some kind of bizarre manga, and we've certainly got a unique cast of characters to choose from. We can totally do a genderswap thing, too, since I get the feeling that I'd literally be killed if Shirai-san or any of the others found one that was too close to what had really happened... So, er... can you do sketches of what everyone would look like?" He was getting excited now. A doujinshi, based on the events of his life? That was way better than one from an anime or game.

Laughing at Ishinomori's question, Shiori quickly shook her head.

"It wasn't anything weird! Remember awhile back that really hot day? We both had detention then and decided to go swimming to cool down," Shiori explained, smiling lightly at the memory. "It was kind of scary - he kept lurking in the water, like a crocodile! But it was kind of fun, too. And definitely worth it! I got to see Shirai's-"

She paused, remembering that she had promised not to say anything about his tattoo. Jeez, and she had almost spilled the beans on it too! She'd have to be more careful with what she said!

"Eheh, nevermind," she said, waving the subject off. "But yeah! I can do it right now, if you don't mind waiting! I'll draw everyone in uniform then!"

She stood and moved over to his desk, pulling the chair out and grabbing one of her emptier sketchbooks as she sat. Grabbing a pen from off his desk, she flipped open to a page and doodled some lines in the corner to get the ink running smoothly before beginning to draw a quick sketch of female!Toru. This could be really fun, actually. A lot funner than she had anticipated.

He pondered for a moment.

"Oh, I remember that day. It was pretty awful... I guess I can see why someone would decide to go swimming then." Then something that Shiori had said caught in his mind, and he made a bizarre little noise.

"Y-y-you saw Shirai's... what, now?" It was probably nothing. She'd probably answer with 'skills at swimming' or 'terrible scars from street fights.' Something like that. Yeah.

He decided to just watch her draw, and quietly began to lurk behind her shoulder. The first thing to appear on the page was... a female version of him! Toru laughed a little.

"Sempai... that's what I'd look like if I was a girl? Wow. She's..." He looked for the right word. "Adorable."

Glad that Ishinomori understood what she was talking about, Shiori continued to doodle female!Toru. Blushing lightly when Ishinomori stuttered out a question of what she had seen, Shiori remained silent and began to add some finishing touches. She wouldn't betray his secret! She wouldn't! And it wasn't because Shiori was afraid of him - she knew what it was like to want to keep a work of art a secret. Though Shirai seemed like the kind of guy who wouldn't really care what other people though, so why was he hiding it..?

Leaning back as she examined the picture with a critical eye, she turned to grin up at Ishinomori. He would make a pretty cute girl, but he didn't want to hear that, did he?

"Aoi-chan and Kondo-san might have some competition!" Shiori giggled as she carefully ripped out the picture and handed it to him. Pondering over who to draw next, she decided to draw a male!Aoi. Might as well switch genders every turn.

Drawing a circle for the head, Shiori paused.

"Oh, but if you were a girl they'd be guys then, huh..? So I guess it's more like you wouldn't have any competition. I don't think the others would make cute girls at all, do you?" she asked, returning back to her drawing.

Toru was torn between relief and burning curiosity when Shiori ignored his question about what of Reizo she'd seen while swimming with him. On one hand, it was hardly his place to inquire. On the other, he really wanted to know, for some bizarre reason. He decided to put it out of his mind and keep watching Shiori draw.

When she tore out the page and handed it to him, he got an even better look at his supposed female incarnation, and blushed. "W-wow, you're right!" he said, and forced out a little laugh. "You'd better make them pretty handsome in return, eh?" For some reason, the features that Toru had always hated about his own appearance didn't look half bad when drawn onto a female character by Shiori. "I'll h-hold on to this. Keep it in a safe place. You know." As his companion sketched out a male Misaki, he watched attentively. Was it just him, or was it almost an improvement?

"I-I dunno... Satou-sempai might look good as a girl. He's, you know, kind of pretty already. A-and I liked your idea earlier, about a female Reizo character! I-it'd be funny to see a girl version of Shirai-kun."

BY THE WAY, TORU'S BISEXUALITY IS SHOWING.

Though she felt as though she should feel somewhat self-conscious that someone was looking over her shoulder and watching her draw, Shiori felt none of that. Quite the opposite, actually: she was glad to have an audience, especially one like Ishinomori. He could point out right away if something looked wrong instead of having Shiori draw the entire picture and then have him point out flaws.

"It's weird seeing Aoi-chan as a boy.." Shiori mused as she drew, brow furrowing as she paused and thought of what else to add. Her hiatus continued, however, when Ishinomori spoke up again.

"Satou-senpai is really pretty. It's like he's cheating, isn't it? Soccer player, rich kid, good looks.." Shiori giggled, resuming her picture. "We totally can't show Shirai-kun this though, alright? He'd kill both of us!"

Though it would be hilarious to see his expression. Would he turn red with rage? Would his face contort into some replica of a Edvard Munch painting, though one of anger instead of fear? She giggled again at the thought; perhaps she'd draw a panel of him looking like that, just for comedic affect.

WHEN ISN'T IT?

"Well, it's a little weird, yeah," he said in regards to the male version of Misaki that Shiori was drawing, "but when you draw this well, it just looks natural. L-like, he really looks like Misaki would if she was a boy! Even if it's a stretch to think of her as one..." The nagging thought was still there in Toru's mind: the male version of Misaki in the drawing was more attractive to him than the real one. Probably residue of his Shadow's sentiments about art versus the real world, he reasoned.

"I'm almost jealous of Satou-sempai," he said, amused. "No guy should have that much going for him in life. So you'd better make your version of him a really pretty girl. M-maybe even embarrassingly pretty." Though Toru wished no ill against his sempai, the idea of him as a beautiful girl was too hilarious to pass up.

"O-oh yeah... definitely don't show this to Shirai-kun. I doubt he has many qualms about hitting girls, and I know he'd kill me."
