Who: Toshi, open Where: The pool. When: A day or two after the team arrives, afternoon What: Swimming. Why: Because free pool!
No, it wasn't the ocean. But it'd been so long since Toshimi had gone swimming (because someone had thankfully vetoed the swim-wrestling unit of gym class) that she was more than happy just to get into the water. Her bedroom had thoughtfully provided her with both her t-shirt-shorts-wetsuit from home and a few choices of newer, decidedly less athletic swimsuits. She thought it might look silly to wear a wetsuit in an a swimming pool, so she opted for a green-and-blue striped bikini; much too flimsy for surfing, but fine for this. She would try the waterslide later; for now she found her way to the deep end and jumped in.
The feeling of the water rushing her, overwhelming her, lasted only as long as her downward momentum; the swimming pool lacked the ocean's urgent rush and hungry grip. Toshimi didn't move. She floated comfortably to the surface, and marveled at how everything moved, but everything was still at the same time.
It wasn't the ocean, but Toshi thought, she could get used to this.
