Who: Kanaye + Shin
What: Chillin' like villains.
Where: Classroom
When: Lunch
Why: They're cool like that.

For once, Shin was eating lunch inside the classroom. Not because he had neglected to bring a lunch and was hoping for some scraps, but because for once in his life he had forgotten to get a new pack of cigarettes. Of course, he would tell the former to his inquiring classmates despite it being common knowledge what Shin did on the roof at lunch; he had to keep up the appearance that he was a rule-abiding student, after all. But with his usual stress relief missing, Shin had ate his lunch faster than he meant to. Way faster. Now without food and without cigarettes, Shin was stuck in the classroom and was thoroughly miserable. What had he done to get such sucky karma?

Feet propped up on the bars of the desk, Shin looked around the room for something to do. He had to get his mind off of his hunger and his overwhelming need for an ash, and though he had homework he could do he wasn't that desperate yet. He'd find someone to talk to, yeah.

"Yo, Satou," Shin said, turning to address his classmate to the left. He wasn't about to get up when he could find entertainment from his seat. "Have any extra food?"

Kanaye, turning to look at Shin, smiled. He usually spent his lunches in the classroom, as his mother (or, more likely, one of her servants) made him lunches. They were nothing to write home about, but they were better then the cafeteria food, which, to Kanaye, was pretty close to perfect anyway. Close enough, at the very least.

Kanaye considered Shin a nice enough guy, at the very least. He didn't exactly approve of his hobbies, but he didn't push the ciggaretes on anyone else (that Kanaye knew of, anyway,) so Kanaye didn't voice his opinions on it.

"Sorry, Matsumoto-kun, I don't. I didn't have breakfast today, so I have to eat everything I can. You understand, right?" He asked, cocking his head to the side and smiling in apology.

Reclining further back in his chair, Shin idly rubbed his stomach. He didn't really want to get up to ask people for food, and yet he really needed something to get his mind off of the hunger. Especially once class started up again. Not even sleeping would be able to get his mind off of it.

"Yeah. As much as I love you, I'd probably do the same thing," Shin grinned, folding his arms behind his head. "Foods before dudes, after all."

Stiffling a sigh, he glanced around the room once again before his eye caught on his pocket. Or, rather, the mysterious shape jutting out from it. It looked like a box, and immediately Shin began to wave it off as just his pack of cigarettes before remembering that he was lacking them. That meant...

He leaned forward suddenly, chair sounding noisily as it's front two legs met the floor. Grabbing his pack of gum, Shin let out an excited mutter and took out a couple sticks of gum. Putting the box back in his pocket, Shin leaned back once again.

"So why'd you skip breakfast? You aren't watching your weight or anything, are you?" he asked, face as solemn as his voice. He was kidding, of course, but finding the gum had put him in a good mood. Why not joke around?

Kanaye raised an eyebrow at Shin apperantly finding gum out of completely nowhere, while managing to not actually know he had it. That was kinda impressive...in a sad sort of way.

"Foods before dudes? That's new." He remarked before taking another bite of his food. It was just plain white rice with some egg, but it was still good.

"Nah, nothing like that. My mother made breakfast today, so..." Kanaye responded. "She's nice, but she's not known for her cooking abilities." He nodded to Shin. "Why didn't you bring your lunch today?"

"I ate already," Shin said, eyes cast downward to focus on the extremely challenging task of unwrapping his gum. "Usually I have other things to focus on, but today my attention kind of drifted and I ended up eating faster than I usually did."

What it was that he focused on, exactly, was left unsaid but probably already known. It wasn't like it was a huge secret, and though he never verbally confirmed it he was sure the people around him could attest that Shin smelled like cigarette smoke after lunch. Seeing as how he usually made it to class just in time, it had to be obvious that it was him that reeked of cigarette smoke.

It was because he smoked at lunch, too, that his lunch usually lasted a lot longer. He was used to dividing his attention between taking a drag, exhaling, taking a bite of food, and chewing (though not exactly in that order). Not to mention someone would occasionally come up and chat with Shin, which also drew out how long it actually took for him to eat.

Kanaye nodded tersely. He knew of Shin's habits, and he hated them. He had to sit next to the kid and he hated cigarette smoke. Nevertheless, he smiled yet again. Not like his face did much besides that, nowadays. "Oh, then you're definitely not getting my food if you already had some."

Kanaye turned once again to his food. He took another bite again, thinking. And then another. And then another, until his lunch was finished, turning to his watch, he noticed lunchtime wasn't going to be over for a while. Shrugging, he turned to Shin. "Why'd you want my lunch anyway? It wasn't particularly good."
