Dearest Nanakamado Escalator School students and parents,
We are pleased to announce that the dormitories and the school will be opening again next week, and continuing to function through to the end of the term, but it is with great sadness that we see one of our own apprehended for such terrible, tragic crimes. Ishino Kaori, the literature teacher at Nanakamado High School, was arrested this morning by the chief of police, under three charges of first-degree murder. The case has not yet gone to trial, but I have been told that the evidence against her is very strong.
It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the part we played in allowing a disturbed individual to slip through the front door. I wish to reassure parents that while we have always had the most rigorous screening process when it comes to our employees, we will be tightening our security considerably. I would also like for it to be publicly known that Ishino-san had no former criminal record, and only mild psychiatric concerns, having had past difficulty with depression and anxiety. Though we could never have seen it coming, the school accepts full responsibility for this oversight.
I would like to take a moment to reassure parents regarding Nanakamado's safety, standing and future. Extra security has been employed for the second time this year, and we are looking at making this a permanent fixture of the campus, to ensure that students are safe at all times. Furthermore, even as we passed through these dark times, our national academic standing has not slipped, but rather advanced. Our school's name remains prestigious and untarnished to those who process university applications. We hope sincerely that these things will all be considered when it comes time to submit re-enrollment papers.
Lastly, our condolences go out to the friends and families of the dearly departed. May they all rest in peace, and may such tragedy never darken our doorstep again. A ceremony to properly recognize the deceased will be held upon the reopening of Nanakamado's doors. I wish to thank all students for weathering this storm with such strength and dignity.
Sincerely, [Nanakamado's Principal has signed his name here with precise and elaborate strokes ]
