Toshi exhaled--had she been holding her breath?--and continued her work. "Okay. Good."
Aside from her uniforms, most of her clothes were pretty old and unlikely to really bleed in the washing machine, so sorting them into a dark pile and a light pile was more of a force of habit than anything else, and it wasn't work that especially required close attention. Which meant she had no excuse not to try and make conversation, right?
"I guess it can be pretty lonely. Iburi, that is. I don't know." It was a depressing thought, and Toshi didn't know what exactly to do with it. "Um...."
'Change the subject' was one of her old standbys-- was it still okay to use those? She decided to go with it anyway. How about laundry? "Your clothes are usually pretty nice, Kondo-san."
