Who: Matthew, Christian & Jeremiah
Where: pawn shop
When: June 19, 2pm
What: Matthew buys a guitar
Matthew wasn't sure why it caught his eye, like most things that drew his attention nowadays. All he knew was that it was dark, shiny, and on sale for cheap, if the tag told any truth.
A quick dig through his wallet sealed the deal.
I have just enough... and plenty left over for groceries! I wonder why I can't take my eyes off it though? Did I own one before?
He often justified his impulse buys by telling himself that if something caught his attention, that something might be able to trigger a memory.
And with that, Matthew entered the pawn shop, eager to become the owner of a shiny new guitar!
A chime rang as he opened the door and a middle aged man greeted him gruffly, hardly looking up from a magazine.
"Are you here to buy or sell?"
Matthew was undeterred.
"I saw a guitar in the window. Is it for sale?"
"There's a sale tag on it, ain't there?"
"Yes."
"Then it's for sale."
He waited awkwardly for a moment, but the man didn't seem eager to offer any more information.
"I'd like to buy it."
With a heavy put-upon sigh, the shop owner put down the magazine and shuffled out from behind the counter. He took some keys and unlocked the back of the window display, yanking the guitar unceremoniously from its place.
"There's a case too, $20 extra."
"Oh, I don't think I need that."
Suddenly, the man's demeanor changed completely. A more neurologically functional man might have taken it a sign of trouble.
"Of course you do, young man! A guitar that beautiful needs an equally lovely case! You have to protect it! Why don't you just take a look..."
It didn't take long to part a fool from his money and Matthew left the store beaming, wallet empty, but arms full. He practically cuddled his new guitar, strumming it happily with his thumb, his other hand holding the case with various accessories inside.
Wow, I've got everything I need now! Case, strap, picks, even some music!
