Who: Theodore
Where: Maisen St. Charles hotel
When: June 6, 2010; Evening
What: Dealing with being a blind lobster.
If there was one thing that could deflate Theo's good mood balloon, a bad sunburn could. It didn't make any sense, though; he hadn't spent any longer out in the sun than he had any other day. Of course, he did have Irish blood in his veins... That and the fact that he had been forced to wear dark sunglasses made for a very unpleasant day. As he strode into the lobby of the Maisen St. Charles hotel, Theo's gaze caught that of the receptionist sitting behind the desk taking a sip from a bottle of water. Her expression turned sympathetic when she noticed the bright red hue of Theo's face and arms. Theo forced a sheepish smile. "Guess I should've worn sunscreen, huh?" "I've got some aloe back here if you'd like some, Mr. Combs." It was always nice staying in a hotel where the employees called him by name, rather than the informal "sir" he often received. He didn't fault people for not knowing his name, nor did he strive for them to memorize it, but it always added a more personal and friendly touch that made him feel more welcome. Even if the only employee that knew his name was Lauren the receptionist. Lauren was the one to check him into the hotel, and had confessed to possessing a great memory. His smile was sincere this time. "That would be wonderful, Lauren. Thank you." As he walked over to the desk, Lauren ducked into the back to get a small bottle of aloe for him. When she reemerged, he added, "It figures, doesn't it? My last day of vacation and I get sunburned." Lauren giggled and passed him the bottle. "Well, it does look pretty bad, but I hope the aloe helps. If you need anything else, just let us know." "Will do. Thanks again, Lauren." Theo moved over to the elevator and pressed the up arrow button. While he waited, he looked over the label on the bottle and eyed the violent hue of his skin. He sighed. The elevator doors opened and he stepped inside, pressing the number for his floor. As soon as he reached his room, Theo carefully stripped off his shirt and went into the bathroom. The second he flipped on the light, he saw just how bad the burn actually was. "What the hell... I wasn't in the sun long enough to be this red." He leaned toward his reflection. "I look like a lobster..." Another heavy sigh, and he started applying the aloe to his overheated flesh. |
