Okay- now he was just getting straight up frustrated. A hand reached up removing the hat allowing the other to run through his hair, get a fist full of curls and tug. The pain helped him concentrate, if only for a moment.
"My mum wasn't insulting you!" He said snappily. Okay so he wasn't an idiot, hell he vaguely remembered half the reasons why his mum hated her mum so much; but his mum didn't go out and insult Devon or Diamond (Amelia, his brain shot in a whipser that he hushed), just Verity. "And neither was I!" He probably shoudln't have been arguing, after all, wasn't just a moment ago he letting her go?
It didn't matter, he wasn't the type to let people leave angry, particularly when they were insulting his mum. Bentley reached out and grabbed her shoulder with a strength of not allowing her to fight but hardly harsh. "My mum adores your dad!" Well, no probably more then that but he wasn't going to say that out loud, no matter how obvious it was; "she makes jokes! She thinks his 'Weasley puppy eyes' are cute! I was making the same correlation!" He took a heaving breath, feeling bitter. "It honestly wasn't an insulting comment! More like a- term of endearment!" And she could take that however she wanted, he wasn't going to bring attention to it though.
