It was impossible to explain the comfort she felt when he accepted her sentiment for what it was, leaving all the technicalities aside for the time being. What he said about the cause made her smile. She couldn't pinpoint why exactly for a while, but it quite simply made her happy. And gave her hope. That was what led her to discover that she felt glad of Lucifer's hope because she realized that if he could still have hope again after likely (though rightfully) losing it, couldn't they all. It made everything a little more bearable.
When he kissed her wrist, Ruby was shocked. Not that he had done it, but at the unknowable affect it had on her. Had he felt the same.. zing of sensation travel up the inside of his arm and spread immediately to the rest of his body? If he had, Ruby was amazed. She hadn't imagined that such a simple thing could have such an impact. Looking up at him, Ruby held an easy smile on her lips and blinked lazily when he shifted. She felt almost as though a fog had settled over them and made everything slower and thicker and feel like that air, but at the same time everything seemed remarkably clear. It was the most curious thing.
She pressed her palm against his chest, her fingers wiggling and roamed in alternating paces and patterns and she could only smile. How had it escaped her that this was the most incredible man she'd ever met? Admittedly, he did a fairly decent job hiding it most of the time; but the fact remained that she was already getting ahead of herself in a big way with him. It wouldn't be long before she was imagining.. well, there she was, getting ahead of herself again. This was so wholly uncharacteristic of the both of them that it seemed to swing around the other end of the spectrum to feel completely right and almost a normal reaction. Not in any other circumstance, but in this she was operating sheerly on instincts. It was all she could do. There was certainly no manual on this.
She reached up higher to touch Lucifer's face, her fingertips brushing along his jaw and over his lips. "I don't mind not knowing," she said with a smile, moving her head off of his shoulder and onto the bed. That was a lie, though. She was burning to know how and why Lucifer garnered such an extreme reaction from her. However, it was true in the sense that she had no intention of wasting any of the time she spent with him trying to figure it out. Moving her hand down along his neck to his shoulder, Ruby snuck a leg, toes first, underneath Lucifer and shifted herself until she was under him. She poised a finger under his chin and used it to bring his face down to hers to kiss him, her knee hooking easily on the outside of his hip. "It sort of feels like the universe is making good on a promise it made you, doesn't it?"
Using her hands on Lucifer's shoulders as leverage, Ruby rolled herself over, flipping him onto his back and bracing herself above him with her one hand. Looking down at him, she grinned through the mass of hair that fell over both of their faces and chuckled quietly.
