Lucifer has spent the past two days waiting. He may not have admitted it to himself and he certainly wasn't going to admit it to anyone else but he'd been waiting since he'd called Ruby to apologize after Sane's interruption to hear from her again. Usually when Lucy waited it was destructive process that involved copious amounts of whatever he could get his hands on but mostly alcohol and cigarettes. He still drank at night and smoked through out his conscious hours but he busied himself doing things like completing his back paperwork for the Dead (let's face it, he owed Sane the favor) and laundry. Yes, Lucifer had done Laundry...well more like taken it in bags to the Laundrette and paid to have it done for him and delivered, he might have been trying to impress Ruby but he was still Lucifer after all.
The cleaning and working kept him busy but it all of his productivity only made the passing time seem like an eternity. He'd had enough time to do all of that than why hadn't she called him? He'd begun to think that perhaps she wasn't going to. Sure, it'd only been 48 hours but he just thought that she'd call by now, he didn't know why but he just did. Patience was never his strong suit and it didn't help that he was fairly certain Sane's entrance and demeanor had scared her off. It figured that would happen to him.
The depression of his realization had begun to hit him that afternoon as he sat in one of the leather armchairs in his living room that cried bachelor in front of the coffee table in a mostly unbuttoned dark charcoal on black pinstriped button-up with the sleeves rolled up that he had forgotten he owned and a pair of black pants. It was apparent to anyone that he'd run out of things to do so he sat there with his Lunch from the Chinese restaurant at the end of the street reading a music theory book he could have recited by memory coincidentally to stop his memory from replaying the events from two nights ago over and over. It was intense and ridiculous the way that his mind refused to let him have any rest but he would live, he hoped.
Lucifer took a drag of off his cigarette and rubbed absent mindedly at his newly shaved face, Sane had been harassing him for the past few months to clean up the situation on his face and he had finally gotten around to it int he past 48 hours like everything else he'd never had the energy to do and he couldn't say that he was unhappy with the result, it just felt foreign to his hand was all. HE was in the middle of his exhale when he heard the doorbell ring and got up to answer it, it'd be Sane and he just knew it come to check up on him or tell him that Ruby had moved to Siberia to avoid him and it was all his fault. He was beginning to suspect it was the second one, a person only really needed 48 hours to move to Siberia.
He answered the door with his cigarette still in his hand and nearly dropped it but instead only burned himself. It was Ruby, she hadn't moved to Siberia after all, and she looked absolutely incredible. "Come in." he said with a smile that was completely out of his control, "I uh...wasn't expecting...It's good to see you."
