When he thanked her, Ruby only nodded, the corner of her mouth twitching in what could still be considered a smile. At Lucifer's invitation, Ruby moved behind him to slide herself onto the end of the piano bench. She sat primly as ever with her legs crossed at the ankle, holding her drink in both hands on her lap but she seemed infinitely more engaged than she usually was. And as soon as he started to play, she became slightly entranced. Her eyes watched his fingers on the keys and traveled to his face, recognizing the bliss of being lost in the music with.. one might call it 'fondness'. But when he spoke, it gently brought her back.
To ask her favorite opera was almost unfair. It wasn't that she loved so many that she couldn't chose or anything of the sort, it was more that she loved one more than any other could ever hope to compete with. "La Traviata," she said softly, not wanting to disturb the notes hanging in the air. It had always been her favorite, but there was a sad recognition of herself in Violetta that she didn't think she'd ever shake.
Ruby sat quietly on the bench, sipping her drink and watching Lucifer play. It was almost like she was with a completely different person and she wondered if perhaps he was more like this before.. everything. She wondered if anyone marked a difference in her -- there was one, she knew, but who had the energy to try to be both versions of themselves? Interestingly enough, she felt more like the Ruby of the past just then than she could ever remember feeling.
Closing her eyes, Ruby felt her head lulling just slightly as she got a little bit lost in the music herself. It was a good feeling. It was.. freeing in a way. But when she opened her eyes again, it was to watch Lucifer quietly and discreetly from behind her glass, her lips parted in contented awe.
