Ben opened his mouth to argue with Esras but he was right. Gianfranco knew Ben treated civilians as well as Military but then Gianfranco, for all his faults, wasn't quite the vindictive bastard Samuel had turned out to be.
Damn, but Ben hated when others were right.
He sighed, hesitated briefly and nodded. "You're right," he conceded. "Although I'll need to keep seeing a few civilians. If I suddenly switched to just Military there'd be raised eyebrows, to say the least. But I'll keep it to a minimum. I can always tell Gianfranco that I've lost some of my civilian patients following the recent shit. People not wanting to consult with a doctor on the Candidate's payroll is a fairly decent reason."
He looked back at Sweet Thing. "But I'm with Esras. We still need to provide somewhere for the poor bastards to go. Not all of the can fight for any cause but they still need help. Besides, ringfencing all avenues for the great and glorious'll only serve to alienate certain others. None've us needs that."
He looked at Esras and nodded again, briefly. He had no intention of causing trouble, no matter how much he'd have liked to when Sweet Thing first got his hackles up.
