After a brief, though intense, confrontation with Samuel the man had grown tired of asking questions that weren't getting answered. Loki had refused to tell him anything about Esras, the surgery or any of the inhabitants of Esras' house; nor would she speak of the Dead or any of its members. She played dumb for a good ten minutes before Samuel had deemed her useless and finally put a bullet between her eyes. She died alone in an alley at the hands of a member of the Candidacy for the cause that had claimed her parents and that she'd spent every minute of all fifteen years of her life fighting for.
Her body had been found in that same alley a few blocks from the surgery later that day by one of the Gems, who recognized it immediately and called for a car to take the body to Esras. Icarus had made the phonecalls to Lucifer, Jasper and Aladdin Sane to tell them what had happened and spent the rest of the day doing whatever he could to comfort them. That included calling all over the City to plan a funeral that wouldn't get any attention from the Candidacy. It had to be completely secret and it was tricky to make sure that everyone who deserved to know found out about Loki's death without drawing the attention of uninvited guests.
Nevertheless, in two days, Icarus had the whole thing set up and on the day of her funeral, they buried her out in the outskirts, just her godparents, Aladdin Sane and Icarus, Esras and Atropine. She had dearly loved Attie and the boys and in the months leading up to her death had come to think of them almost as siblings, so it only seemed right that they should be among those to actually bury her.
Once her body was in the ground, everyone had gone back to the Cabaret for a sort of reception. There wasn't much food, but there was plenty of alcohol and plenty of grief to go around.
