Action Scene: Draco arrives at Spinner's End
OOC: This scene is continued in the At Spinner's End.

He had made sure to keep one with him this past year, in case of emergencies. But now he couldn't find it. Where was the bloody thing?

Aha! There is was, under his winter robes. He gently tugged it out and pulled open the drawstring. There was just enough, thank Salazar. He hurried back out to the Common Room, and quickly checked to make sure there was no one around. No one knew that the Common Room fireplace had a illegal Floo connection. Severus had put it in at the beginning of the year, as a precaution. Not many knew about it.

Actually, Draco suspected that only he and Severus knew about it. No matter, that wasn't important right now. Right now, he had to get out of this infernal castle and go somewhere where he could breathe.

He lite a fire with a quick Incendio. He took on last look around the Common Room, before taking a deep breathe and throwing the Floo powder into the fire and yelling Spinner`s End

Severus looked up from his agitated pacing when the floo flared to life. His fingers gripped his wand until he ascertained it was only Draco, then he resumed his pacing.

Once again, Potter had managed to mess up his life, or death as the case may be, and there wasn't a damned thing he could do about it. If the brat expected him to be grateful, he had another thing coming to him.

He glanced up, looking at his Godson. "Are you alright?" he asked, still scowling.

"Honestly Severus? I have no idea," Draco replied, once he had dusted the ash off of him. "The entire world has gone around the bend, thank Merlin that at least you haven`t changed."

"Neither have your parents, unfortunately," he muttered, resuming his pacing. "Do you plan on hiding from them forever?"

Draco looked up at Severus frowning a little, "Of course not. Only for a little while, until things settle down and they decide that raising another child is too much hassle and decide that I will have to do as their heir. Like always."

He collapsed onto the couch, and wondered how it was that it was only lunch-time and he was already exhausted? He let his head fall back against the back of the couch and rolled it to the side to watch Severus pace.

Severus snorted in amusement. This wouldn't be the first, nor would it be the last time that Draco had come to him for sanctuary. It seemed to be the Malfoy routine, coming to him for help when it was convenient for them, expecting him to drop everything to help.

Lucius and Narcissa knew that Draco would be safe with him, and usually let the boy be for a few days before they would all make nice and leave him in peace until the next catastrophe.

"Pettigrew made a mess of your usual room, but the sheets are clean."

Draco stared at his Godfather incredulously for a moment, but then let out a snort of amusement. This escalated into full out chest heaving laughter. He knew it was stupid and he was probably hysterical, but felt good.

"The sheets..." he managed to gasp out, before giving up and falling onto the floor.

Severus watched as Draco seemingly fell apart in front of him. Obviously, the strain of the last few days had taken it's toll on the boy. Severus waited, allowing Draco to vent, albeit in his very odd manner. His parents would never allow such a display of course, but Severus was neither his mother nor father.

Thank god.

Draco gasped for breathe, as he pushed himself off the floor and sat up again. The odd giggle still escaping. Thank Merlin, Mother or Father had not seen that, or he would have been victim to a very boring lecture of Things That A Malfoy Is Never Seen Doing, And If They Are Witnessed, The Best Way to Rid Of The Evidence. He looked up at Severus, who looked vaguely amused. "Having fun?" he asked.

"Can't you tell?" Severus drawled lazily, a small smile playing about his lips. "I haven't seen you do that since you were a fourth year."

Draco grimaced as he stood up, the floor was filthy. "Yes I remember that particular meltdown, one of my best if I remember correctly," he drawled, as he brushed himself off.

"You got through your first four years of school without one. I'm surprised you had lasted that long, all things considered."

Severus sighed and shook his head. That was the year everything went well and truly to hell. The Dark Lord returned, his Mark began to burn and he was forced in to his role of spy once again.

Draco just looked at his Godfather speculatively. Something was bother him.

"Godfather are you sure you're alright?"

Severus shook his head and sat down on one of his high backed chairs. "No, I am most assuredly not alright," he admitted. He should be dead. A part of him still wished that he was. Death had to be easier than his life had been.

Draco blinked in surprise when Severus admitted that he wasn't alright. As far as he could remember, Sev had never shown any kind of weakness. This must be something truly horrific, if he had admit. He leaned forward worriedly, "What's wrong?"

Severus couldn't tell Draco the truth, he was dealing with enough on his own without burdening him with his own nightmare. "I'm tired," he answered instead. "Bloody bone tired."

Draco narrowed his eyes, he knew when he was being brushed off. "Don't you think I know by now, whether you are lying to me Godfather?" he questioned.

"This is more than being tired Sev, something is bothering you enough to admit that everything is not alright," he continued. "What is it?" he demanded.

Severus looked at his Godson, considering him. Draco was legally an adult now and he'd been through his share of hell in the last year. Perhaps it was time to treat him as something other than the Malfoy heir.

"Potter's family wasn't the only thing he brought back," he said, his lip curling in disgust. "He brought me back as well." He watched Draco, knowing it wouldn't take long for him to understand exactly what he was saying. The boy was hardly an idiot.

Draco opened his mouth to answer when he paused, brought back? But Potter's parents were dead, and Sev was alive. Potter brought back his parents? His dead parents.

His eyes widened as the rest of Severus's statement sunk in, Potter brought him back too. But that would mean...?

With dawning horror he realized just what his Godfather was trying to say, "No," he said vehemently.

Draco just shook his head. "No, no, you...no." He got up and slowly backed away from his Godfather. He was still shaking his head.

"You're lying!" he screamed.

Severus sighed. He should have followed his first instincts and not told Draco anything. Obviously, he'd made a mistake if Draco's reaction was any indication.

He leaned back in the chair, resting his elbows on the armrest and steepling his fingers together. He sat calmly and waited for Draco to cease his tantrum.

Draco stood there staring at his Godfather, not understanding.

"You couldn't have died, you're sitting right there."

He legs gave out from under him, and he slowly sank down to his knees. He lifted his head, "You died?" he asked in a small voice. "Do my parents know? Why didn't anyone tell me?"

"I haven't told your parents anything, but I believe they suspect that something happened. I would hope that I can trust your discretion on the matter," he said, arching his brow at Draco. He'd kept many secrets for Draco over the years, and asked very little in return. "Until I'm certain of what has happened, I'd rather it wasn't common knowledge."

Not until he had another chance to talk to Potter and get some answers out of him.

Draco dropped his head, cradling it in his hands. His Godfather had died. He didn't understand. It made no sense. He slowly got to his feet and turned around.

"Of course, Sir I won't say anything," he replied in broken voice, not turning around. He slowly made his way out of the room, but paused at the threshold. He half-turned his head in Sev's direction, "Sir, may I borrow your owl? Mother requested that I owl when I arrive," he asked in a quiet voice.

"Draco," Severus began, but stopped. There was nothing he could say, Draco would need time to come to terms with it on his own. "Check the study, that's usually where he is," he said instead, leaning his head against the back of his chair.

"Thank you," he replied quietly, leaving the room. He made his way to the study, and spotted Eries on the windowsill. "Hello," he said quietly, stroking the owl lightly.

He picked up a quill and quickly penned a note to his mother. He rolled it up and held it out to Eries, "Take this to Malfoy Manor."

He watched as Eries, winged his way out the open window and then turned around left the study. He contemplated for a moment going back to sitting room but decided against it. He needed time to think and understand.

He made his way slowly to the spare room that he used whenever he stayed over. With a sigh he lay down on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
