Action Scene: The beginning
"That wand's more trouble than it's worth," said Harry. "And quite honestly," he turned away from the painted portraits, thinking now only of the four-poster bed lying waiting for him in Gryffindor Tower, and wondering whether Kreacher might bring him a sandwich there, "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime."
He made his way to the Gryffindor tower and, after recieving a sandwich from Kreacher, headed to bed. He didn't see much of anyone, but he figured that was for the best. He did not want to deal with anyone until tomorrow. Harry chuckled and shook his head. Ron and Hermione were probably off snogging somewhere private.
Harry yawned and pulled the covers over his head, falling asleep.
Harry found himself walking through the Forbidden Forest once more, this time feeling calm. He wasn't walking to his death. Lord Voldemort was dead and he was alive. He had his entire life ahead of him and nothing would go wrong. He ended up in a clearing, somewhere familiar, but Harry had never been there before as far as he could recall. Sitting down on a fallen log, he took a deep breath and looked around.
"Harry."
He glanced to the side and dropped his mouth. "Mum?"
Lily smiled, wearing the same clothes she wore when he saw her a few hours before. "Hello, son."
"I'm not dead, am I?"
She shook her head. "No."
"Then why...how...?"
She knelt down and embraced him. "You called to me again. It's so nice to see you."
"Where's dad? And Sirius? Remus and Tonks?"
Lily had a bemused expression on her face. "They're around. Why, do you want to see them?"
"I do." He pulled away, biting his lower lip. "Mum. Where is Snape?"
She furrowed her brow. "I'm not sure. I did not try to look for him. Harry, do you want to see Snape?"
"Yeah. No. He saved my life and was a good guy, but I never knew until he died."
"I suppose if you want him, he'll come. Anything for you, Harry." Lily hugged him again and Harry forgot about anything else but the warmth of his mother.
Harry awoke to hands shaking him. He yawned and opened his eyes to see Ron and Hermione's worried faces. "Harry! Something incredible's happened," said Ron.
"What?"
Hermione exchanged glances with Ron. "Well," she began. "I don't know how to tell you this, Harry, but your parents are in the Great Hall. They're alive. And so are-"
"Remus and Tonks!" Ron cut in. "And Sirius."
Harry's mouth dropped and felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. "Snape too?"
"Yeah! Wait, how'd you know?"
Harry wasn't sure what to say.
