Hey guys. Sorry for dropping the ball on getting things up and running expeditiously. I hope you're all still interested, but it's going to be a bit longer. Got attacked by RL last week plus migraines and 5 week old puppies to foster this week. At this point I'm looking at early next week for a start. If you haven't joined the new comms yet feel free to, and if you're planning on changing anything about your characters (age, when they showed up, etc) please drop a link to their bio here with a note about what's changing.

Hey guys! Sorry for the slow, it's been a crazyish week. I've finally made new comms at [info]devolve2 and [info]devolve2_ooc and am moving things over and editing them. I'm working on the jobs list as well, and will be putting up a new character wall shortly. I'm hoping we can get back to play by Sunday if everyone's up for it. To which end we'll probably want to have another chat to work out everyone's modified backstories.

Also, I'm thinking that starting off a few weeks post where we stopped would be best, to have given the new characters time to settle in and get past their probationary periods. Feel free to chime in here with ideas on that. I'm not sure about a chat time yet as I don't know what my schedule for the weekend is going to be, but just keep in mind I'll be trying to set one up.

Ok, we've been talking about it in chat, but I think for actually working it out it might be easier to see it all in one place. So please rep here with your characters and 1-4 jobs you can see them performing. From there I'll try to sort something out that makes sense for the characters and the colony. Bear in mind that characters who've been there the whole time will get priority and the new characters will need to be worked in...which could involve some jockeying around of current roles. (If you want them to stay where they've already been for established characters then you definitely have priority on that)

So I know I've been kind of disappeary and I hear about some changes up in hurr. I just wanted to explain. Logan's been sick since January and we couldn't figure out why. It's been kind of draining taking care of the whiniest child on the planet and listening to him hack his lungs up every night. Finally, FINALLY some doctor figured out "omfg, I guess he has a sinus infection huh?" after he came home from school with a fever of 102. Morons.

So he's been on antibiotics and now has a nebulizer to help him breathe. Finally it's start to clear up and we're all banging our heads off walls because the steroids make him crazy. Please God, someone save us.

Future of the Game [Friday

As some of you already know, Erin has decided to leave Devolve. This leaves a lot of things up in the air and, at this point, my feeling is that a reboot is probably the best choice for getting everything back on an even keel. The game premise and world will remain fundamentally the same, but I am willing to consider suggestions for things you might like to see added or changed. Also, think about whether you will want to keep all of your characters and if there are any changes you'd like to make to the ones you do keep.

I'd like to have a game chat on Sunday if possible, so we can discuss our options as a community after everyone's had time to think things over. Around 3pm Pacific time (6pm Eastern) is best for me, but if a majority of players can't make that I'm open to earlier or later. Please reply here with what characters you plan to keep and if you can make a 3pm chat. If you can't make that time, feel free to suggest an alternate, as we have time to do some wiggling on the time tomorrow.

For those of you who do read this, if you know any other players who might miss it please send them this way so everyone is aware of the situation.

With the attack plot underway tomorrow, we decided to write up a point list of important things you guys should know before you decide what characters you'd like to take part, and what sort of roles they would play. There's also information on the colony itself. More information will be added over the next day or so. If you have any questions please let us know. Also, please reply to this post with which characters you are thinking of having join in.


Things you should know:

- The human colony is populated by 114 people, mostly farmers and families.

- It's a thirty minute drive from the main colony.

- Contact with the infected in that region is very rare, and never more than a few small groups when it happens.

- The human colony is surrounded by a wall, much like the main colony. However, instead of a main building and a few smaller buildings, the colony is comprised of several small trailers and simple built homes. The animals are kept behind the main "village", and the crop fields exist beyond this. There is a mill, dairy facilities, several greenhouses, and other farming facilities.

- Currently the human colony is powered by a multitude of specialized batteries that are rotated out every week by the supply teams and charged by the arc reactor back at the main colony. There have been talks of a direct line to the main colony's arc reactor, but so far nothing has been established.



Things to keep in mind:

- Characters who are on the Friday supply run will not be able to join in on the defense of the human colony.

- The main colony will still need enough people to remain behind and defend it, so each player should only choose one or two characters to send out to assist. These characters should also make sense. No characters under 18 or who have no real outside/genuine combat experience.


The attack:

- The attack will be led by a group of about twenty well-armed city raiders. These are people who intend to kill those inside and steal their stores, potentially their women and children, and anything else of value to their survival.



The aftermath:

- Most of the characters will return to the colony after the attack, but several will stay behind to help with refortifying. Also, at this point characters who specialize in building or technology will be allowed to spend a few days at the human colony to help set them up.



The Important NPCs:

Simon Ellis - The colony leader. An mid-forties with a gruff appearance, who has grayed quickly in the past few years. He's a good man, if a bit wary and overprotective of his people, but he's come to trust those from the Xavier's colony.
Ellen Cobb - The colony doctor. In her fifties, well graying, Stubborn and mostly friendly.
Alan Clarke - Head of security.
Bill Fletcher - Head Engineer.

Remy's Arrival [Monday

Remy will be present in the colony as of tomorrow (Tuesday) late afternoon. Kurt ran into him on his scouting run and, as he was obviously heading almost straight for the colony and showing no signs of veering off he figured it was best to confront him. At which point he found out he was a) a mutant and b) had been looking for them. After a bit of conversation he made the preliminary decision he wasn't an immediate/evident threat and brought him back, where he did the standard decontamination, got his exam (Josh can have been in on it if you want, AJ, or just Hank), was assigned a room and given the standard 'stay away from THESE PLACES' lecture. So as of tomorrow evening IC he's got limited run of the place per the probationary restrictions and everyone should be keeping a weather eye on him, as with Wisdom and (to a much lesser extent under the circumstances) the Cruzes.

Hey, y'all! Haha, it's honestly sad how long I've been looking forward to playing Rogue again. I'm F, and for some brief info, I'm from Alabama, and also in graduate school (not in Alabama.) This'll restrict my AIM availability to evenings--and mostly on weekday evenings, because on weekends, I like to pretend that the only thing on my to-do list is drink a whole lot of margaritas. And procrastinate. And be irresponsible as all get-out. Whatever, you get it. ;D

Anyway! As you might have gathered from--the second sentence I wrote, this is Rogue! I hate the movie interpretation and tend to stick to the comic-based version when it comes to personality. (Except, I conveniently forget all those writers who made her whiny and codependent. Hallelujah, creative freedom!) I don't have her write her accent in entries (although her grammar will be lazy and/or laced with colloquialisms), but I do write it in threads and logs--so if it becomes unintelligible for you, let me know and I'll try to tone it down.

Anyway, I'm super excited to be here! Rogue got here the canon way; she started off as a terrorist under Momma Dearest (Mystique), and came to the Institute about three years ago to get help with the other woman in her head, Carol Danvers. It's most likely that your character didn't trust Rogue in the beginning, and it's up to you to decide whether they trust her now--although I will say she's participated in oodles of missions as an X-Woman, and theoretically, she's more than proven her loyalty. Currently, she's reeling from two deaths--Irene Adler's (her other mom; she never got to say GOODBYE, and come on, how much would that suck?), and Xavier's (he didn't fix her, but he sure helped, and she owed him a lot.) She's also dealing with the fact that she's under the same roof as Mystique. She'll be the one watching suspiciously (and fighting with Raven quite frequently), because out of all living people, Rogue is probably the person who knows Raven best.

Alrighty guys! Just a few things of note:

With new characters now having to be new arrivals to the school there is now an established "probation period" for them. During this time they cannot leave the compound, gain access to the sub-basement, or have un-supervised access to several of the essential facilities (the water shed, the fishery, the greenhouse, etc). These conditions will apply for ALL new arrivals, though the duration of their probation period may vary. During this time they will be supervised closely for security reasons, and be evaluated before their probation period is up. This is to prevent mentally unstable, suspicious, or potentially dangerous people from causing trouble.

Also, due to the fact that medicines of any kind are now a finite resource, and they have now reached or surpassed the recommended shelf life of almost every medicine manufactured, combined with the fact that the efficacy of most drugs can be profoundly affected by the conditions in which they’re stored, Hank stores the vast majority of the colony’s medicines, both over the counter and prescription, down in the med lab. This does not include aspirin, which has shelf life of at least 15 years, but most cold medicines and all prescription medicines are in dry, cold storage in an effort to preserve them for as long as possible should they need them.

Hey all, I've made tags for everyone in the IC comm. The format is "firstname_lastname" for each character. Did this b/c some (like Pete Wisdom) don't have codenames. It's your character's actual first name, even if they don't use it *looks at Freak*. If this is too confusing/problematic, I could possibly redo them as code-names, though, so chime in here to express your opinion.

Hey guys! Su here! Sorry if this is late, but threading's been going a little slow and we just got to it...But, Sam mentioned to Bobby that Lewis and Annie would probably beg him to make them an ice slide. And Bobby - being Bobby - provided before they could ask. (He may not be as bouncy, but he's still got the heart!)

So, when everyone woke up this morning, or went out to work...the snowed in fields had been turned into a mini theme park style ice playground for the kids. Anyone who's ever been to/seen pictures of an Ice and Snow Festival...it was something like that, only kid sized.

Therefore while Bobby and JP were out scouting, it was highly likely that many kids in the colony didn't work at all, because they were too busy having fun! Whoops.

Bobby will neither comment or apologize. You will just have to live through it.


ETA: This is Bobby, so for those of you wondering, yes, it is sturdy (and strategically sized) enough that teens and adults could have some fun on it too.

Intro time!

Hi, I'm Robyn. I'm 23, almot 24, and I'm sick right now (again) so forgive me if I'm a bit of a zombie. I'm super friendly though, so hit me up via email any time at alieandvixx@gmail.com or on AIM at a forgetful girl.

I've got Betsy here! I listed her at 22, but that's just because she's turning 22 in like... a month. She ALMOST got a business degree, but then the world ended before she could graduate, so it's not her fault. She's a telekinetic with psyblades, but nooooo telepathic powers in this. She's manning the stores with Lorna, I guess, and also helping in the kitchen!

She probably has this like... habit of always asking the people who venture out frequently if they've heard anything about her boyfriend (who is missing and probably dead but who I didn't name just in caaaase a new char wants backstory), and she's started trying to learn some combat skills in the last few months.

So there are lots of ways for her to have gotten to know people. She tries to be optimistic that they will overcome this whole... apocalypse shit that's going on, and though she's a bit more jaded now than she was before this all started, she's still a bit idealistic somehow.

This is long now, so I'll stop, but she needs interactions! And four months ish of backstory! Thoughts?
