Lance had found out that there were a lot of things you could do in two years. You could read a lot of books, which he had tried with various degrees of success. He had discovered that he liked the Harry Potter books for one. He had also discovered that Trainspotting was written in some form of English that no one had taught him in his life. And he would never admit to anyone ever that he had cried reading The Virgin Suicides.
He also found a lot of time to learn how to use different weapons or how to turn ordinary objects into weapons. Things like baseball bats and hammers made sense. Those hadn't taken any sort of learning curve. But Lance had managed to turn Venetian blinds into a viable weapon. He was damn proud of that one. They weren't gonna win any awards, but in a pinch they could save your life. And in a pinch was what was important.
Of course, one of his biggest achievements in two years time, one of the things he was most proud about, was finally learning all the words to Lady Gaga's songs. As long as he could keep his CD player in the Jeep working and find discs, he had music. And Lance loved the Gaga.
He had the windows down, music blaring as he and his Jeep sped down the road. The Jeep was outfitted like something out of Mad Max and was covered in cameo and metal and weapons. And speakers. Lance had mounted speakers in every conceivable nook and cranny that he could. They didn't all work. His electrical skills were sub par, but he had enough speakers. He had enough speakers to make the world sing. And usually to announce his presence, which was something that most people didn't want. Lance wasn't most people. He was a modern day Ash, but he didn't need a chainsaw arm. And he was more attactive.
"Rah rah ah ah ah. Rama ra ma ma. Gaga ooh la la. Want your bad romance," he sang at the top of his lungs, steering with one hand while the other dangled a lit cigarette out the window. Lance was on his way somewhere although he hadn't really figured out where. Didn't know how long Boomstick was gonna be able to keep him going, either.
