Molly just shrugged. It was a lie, but it was one of those acceptable lies that parents sometimes had to tell their kids. She probably wouldn't have ever taken the hat off if her mother hadn't forced her to, and in retrospect, that was sort of disgusting.
"I am. It's a gnome army. I'm cloning them." She nodded as she carefully removed a box of medicine from the cabinet and popped the lid open to count the vials inside.
"You say that like you're forty," Molly looked up from her counting briefly. "I think it's more fun liking all kinds of music. You're never disappointed."
"I dunno," Molly shrugged, not looking up from her counting. She hadn't really thought out questions like that when she came up with the whole lying plan. But it didn't matter. "We've been best friends pretty much since always."
