"I sort of look at it from the perspective of protecting everyone all around." To be honest, it was starting to tax her limits whether she wanted to admit it or not. "It's a faulty sort of logic. I feel like I want to handle you with kid gloves so as not to break anything." Gert held up a hand as though to stop any protests. "I am not saying you need it or accusing you of anything. I'm simply explaining." She had never been good at this, but she felt as though she had gotten far worse.
Gert couldn't not notice Molly's reaction, and it made her heart clench a bit. When they had been young, Gert had been that all of their parents were beyond evil. There had been very little in the way of evidence, but she had not spared either Chase or Molly her pet theories.
When Molly looked at her, Gert did not flinch away, but kept the gaze even as the girl's voice rang through her mind. "Gone as far as we could tell. Of course that just means they could be sequestered in some sinister evil lair they built in case something like this happened."
