Kevin hadn't been in the greenhouse today. Moving back to the house, though comforting in a lot of ways, had made him antsy and anxious in others, which had made his power harder to keep in check. So he'd asked Kurt if he'd take him for a quick run outside the walls. He felt a bit guilty asking the man on Sunday, but everything - and more importantly everyone - had been starting to look decayed and rotting, and it had been making his skin crawl more than usual.
Fortunately Kurt hadn't seemed to mind, and they'd spent about five hours criss-crossing the remains of what had once been Salem Center while Kevin disposed of most of a week's accumulation of corpses. While there were definitely less and less infected with every passing month there was still never any dearth of corpses for Kevin to deal with...probably precisely because of the decreasing numbers of shambling undead. Sooner or later, though, they'd all die off - which was a good thing, definitely - and his usefulness would be at an end...which made his skin crawl vaguely to think about, so he just didn't. For now he could go out three or four times a week and come back with his powers quiet and sated enough that he could usually function for at least a couple of days before needing to use them again.
He'd gotten his standard check up from Hank after the run, then made the - unnaturally short - trek back to his room...where he'd paced restlessly, unable to settle. He felt energized and restless, like there was too much under his skin and it was trying to leak out around the edges, so he slipped on a jacket with a deep hood and headed out. He paused in front of Josh's door for moment before shaking his head and moving on. He probably wasn't there anyway, and even if he was that didn't mean he wanted his space randomly invaded just because Kevin was feeling unnaturally social.
He headed down stairs instead, staying close to the walls and pausing at corners to listen for anyone coming, then followed the sound of the television to the rec room. He stopped at the door and looked in, making sure it wasn't any of the little kids before he entered. But it was just Jubilee, curled up alone in a corner of the sofa, and he was as comfortable with her as he was with anyone.
"Um, hey." He smiled faintly. "Mind if I join you?"
