Mondays and Wednesdays were a relief for Jimmy in a way. As little as he enjoyed leaving the colony, sometimes it was extremely claustrophobic. Especially when Tabby was being particularly...attentative. It was definitely an escape from her at the very least.
That said, the grim landscape of the city that had at one time been the largest in the country never ceased to send a shiver through his spine. Now it had an eerie emptiness to it. Jimmy was not one for cities ever and this one in particular had been a hellish, overwhelming nightmare to him. But he preferred that to the empty shell it had become. Even without the roving bands of raiders, the few holdouts who still lived in the ruins, and the ever dwindling number of zombies, it was an unsettling husk.
In the two years since the outbreak, they'd managed to pick over quite a bit of the Bronx, but there were still some areas that were not completely raided. Even though they weren't the only people taking from the area, the county was 42 miles area and had enumerable neighborhoods. So there was still plenty of places to look for supplies.
Right now, the young Apache stood atop a small brick building in residential area, surveying the area around them. He didn't think they'd ever made it this far south east before. So he was looking for the usual suspects. Zombie hordes, roving bands of raiders or other scavengers. Most of them were not as live and let live as the mutants of Xavier's colony. With his bare eyes, James Proudstar could see further and with more clarity than most types of binoculars and in nearly any lighting conditions. A rifle was slung over one shoulder, a weapon he was proficient with but not fond of. Jimmy only carried it when outside of the colony, and rarely used it. It was precaution.
"I don't see anything," he said to LeBeau through the communicator. "At least nothing living or undead. Which house do you want to begin with?" The enormous Apache jumped down from the roof and landed on the pavement near the Cajun with inhuman grace and silence for his size.
It was time to get to work.
