Clouds were rolling in and the sky was opening up to bring rain but Mac was ignoring all of it. She was still roaming around Sundance, coming across Twin Feather territory by now, still muddling over her strange encounter with the Carrion girl, Mystic. Mac wanted to head back to the lodge but was taking a round-about way of getting there, still needing time to think on a few things, especially after speaking with that tarot card-reading girl. She had been so nice and sweet to Mac, and yet so on the money about things, things Mac hadn't spoken to anyone.
Mac pulled the black hoody closer around her face just as something white on the ground caught her eye. Stopping, Mac knelt down to to further inspect the item that had caught her attention. It appeared to be a stone, but not just some random one, it had words carved into it, saying "Michelle- Wife, Friend, Healer" Whoever this 'Michelle' was couldn't have died along with the others in the virus. The marker didn't appear to be aged very long, maybe only a year or so, and there was evidence of it being routinely up-kept and flowers brought on a regular basis. Mac could tell these things solely by the way she had meticulously maintained Carmen's grave before she left New York. What must it look like now?
Guilt started to build up once again, bringing with it sorrow and pain. This person had been someone's loved one as well, and her partner didn't go off on some hate driven quest to make everyone else's life miserable just because he or she lost her. Instead that person was probably off living their life contently and still managed to come here and tend their loved one's grave, the way she should be.
Mac stayed knelt by that grave of the person she didn't know, and let a few stray tears drift from her eyes as she drifted through her memories.
