Wolf could have cared less if she'd been covered in mud, or anything else, his heart was bursting with the joy and simple comfort of just having her near him again. He wiped the tears from her cheeks and kissed her on the mouth again before he was pulled into a closer embrace.
"No Libby, it's not your fault. I'm the one who brought those drifters here. I should have known that it would come to something like this... and now so many people have.. God, I'm just so thankful you're here right now. I missed you so much, I was so worried about you."
He didn't want to let her go, some irrational part of him was scared that if he did he wouldn't get her back again. They'd been through so much together, but this was the one time that he'd failed to be at her side, and it was going to take a lot for him to forgive himself for that. He leaned back a little, and put a hand on either side of her face. He just looked at her for a moment with a warm smile on his face.
"Libby, I am so in love with you." He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her again, this time for much longer and with much more passion than before. He'd known it for a long time, but hadn't been able to tell her. Circumstances couldn't keep his mouth shut about it any longer.
