"Well, why don't you try to understand this," he said and leaned in to kiss her when she tilted her head towards him. Sometimes they managed to confuse the hell out of each other when they were talking, but when they kissed everything seemed a lot clearer.
"So I do all the right wrong things?" Jace laughed softly. It made perfect sense to him. That was the story of his life. It was the only possible way to explain how he'd ended up in another complete mess of a situation and yet he still felt like somehow things were finally falling into place.
"I'll try to keep doing that, but I gotta confess, I don't really know what I'm doing anymore." He smiled at her and shrugged. "I'm new at this, babe. I've never been in love before."
It took a moment before he realized the implication of what he'd just said. Not that he didn't mean it, but he hadn't meant to say it. He'd been avoiding that word ever since Christmas Eve when he'd realized that he was in love with her. He didn't want to say anything because he wasn't sure how she'd react. He wasn't even sure how to react himself.
