Bishop's eyes narrowed as she frowned over at him. It was another look that Jace would recognize. She wasn't sure whether she wanted to laugh, or to hit him. That one had been especially popular after the first week that they'd been together. He was being confusing and contrary on purpose, she was sure of it. That was his way of toying with her. Not that she wasn't amused by it, now that she'd learned to distinguish when he was actually teasing.
"I'm still caught up on the part where you're absolutely crazy about me. I don't think I'll ever understand that one." With a smile, she tilted her head towards his. Bishop had never been able to see herself very clearly. The image she'd built of herself recently was that of a rugged drifter who'd spent too much time on the road. She'd been so worn down that she didn't think there was anything left to like. "You are pretty complex. Nobody else has ever managed to infuriate me, yet make me so happy, in the same five minutes."
She covered her hand with his as his fingers brushed against her face. "You always manage to do something right, even when whatever you're doing should be going horribly wrong." That didn't even make much sense to her, but that was the only way she could think to explain how Jace operated. It was also the only logical explination as to how he'd managed to get her to fall in love with him so quickly. That never should have worked. Hell, it should have been impossible. But just about everything he did had only strengthend her affection. "So keep it up."
