Week 24 -- Wednesday WHO: Sumi and Kenji WHAT: Half-siblings meeting again face to face WHERE: On the way back to the lodge from the Trading Post WHEN: Wednesday afternoon RATING: PG-13 for angry yelling in Japanese? STATUS: Complete
Sumi was feeling much better than she'd been feeling in a long time. True, things with the people in the lodge not really liking her hadn't changed. She wasn't entirely sure that it ever would change. But it was even easier to ignore, though. Because she had the pleasure of knowing that Jax cared about her. As more than just a friend. She could still vividly remember the way it had felt to have Jax kiss her that night. Needless to say, it had been a dream come true. She ignored the blatant looks of dislike and the whisperings about her behind her back. They fell to the wayside when compared with the happiness she was feeling. She had been spending more time with Jax, which was definitely preferable to seeing him once or twice over a long period of time. He took her out on rounds and such, and she was more than glad to accompany him around. It was nice to feel like he actually wanted to spend time around her. To know that she was wanted. And, of course, it was interesting to see the things that he did when he was doing his work. Things were more complex than she'd imagined, but she also couldn't have expected less than that. Not from Jax.
That day was much like any other of hers, despite both the power outage and the heat. She rose with the sun and went about her routine, dressing in a light sun dress for the sake of not getting too overheated. Most of her morning had been spent at the window sill with the window open to whatever breezes there were, reading one of the few books she had in her room. She liked to cycle through them, and still found that they were enjoyable to read. When the afternoon came, though, Jax asked her if she'd go to the Trading Post for him. They were running low on some things in the lodge and there was concern over losing food because of the problem with the power. The most notable on the list were coffee and eggs. She was more than happy to do anything that he asked and she knew that he also wanted her to get out of the lodge more often. To keep her from being cooped up. So, she left the lodge with a few things to trade, braving the heat from the sun coming down. And, of course, nestled in her bag were her case of throwing knives. Empty-handed she wasn't a threat at all. But with a weapon she could most certainly take care of herself.
The Trading Post wasn't unfamiliar to her now that she'd been a few times. She made her way to find the things that she'd been asked, though it took longer than anticipated because of the crowds. Still, where some people were irritable and grumpy because of the weather, she was entirely polite with each transaction. She really didn't need anything for herself, though Jax had told her that she could get anything she needed. With a smile and a polite thanks, she tucked the coffee she'd gotten into her bag with the intention of just going back to the lodge.
She knew the way well now, and she was just enjoying how nice the day was (despite the heat) as she walked. It really was nice to get out and do a bit of walking. She really hadn't noticed how much she'd been missing by just staying inside. Jax really was right in saying that it was good for her to leave every now and again.
