Kenji could definitely relate to the fear of screwing things up. He had majorly screwed things up when he'd deserted his family, and he'd spent the last three years trying to make up for it. He just hoped that Sumi would be able to see some of that effort and not just immediately attack him. He knew she was angry, he'd seen it in her eyes- even from a distance.
His hesitancy was greater than Christian's with regard to the offer of food. Sharing an apple was one thing, but a sandwich and company would probably cost him and he didn't have much in trade. "Sure,yeah, the weather is terrible. It never got this hot back in Osaka." He nodded as he finished his apple and spit the seeds off the boat.
