Kenji once again found himself talking to Christian about his own opinions and experiences as they walked to the boat. It was working to put him at ease with the guy without him seeing it as any kind of threat. The boat proved to be farther from the Trading Post than he thought, but he wasn't too concerned. He'd done a lot of walking in the last three years and this wouldn't hurt him.
"Wow. It's nice. I wasn't expecting something like this." He'd seen the River Runner boats and although they were roughly the same size, just of different design, they didn't look anywhere near as sturdy as this one. Between the healthy looking horse and the boat, this guy seemed to have it made. The thought of having transportation and some kind of at least semi-permanent home sounded awesome.
Especially the home part. If the truth was to be told, he was tired of traveling and living out of his bag. "It's better than camping all the time. At least you have a choice whether or not you want to see the stars before bed." He glanced at the horse as it was tethered to the boat on a long rope. "I'm sure he'll come around. It seems like you manage him pretty well."
Kenji caught the apple and went to sit near Christian. "Thank you. You must have read my mind." He said with a nod to the apple in his hand. "It is martial arts... more or less. Tai means 'body' and jutsu means 'technique'. It's not just kicking and punching and those things you used to see in the movies. It's one of the eighteen disciplines of ninjutsu. There are other disciplines like Seishinteki kyōyō - spiritual refinement- and other things involving both mental and physical self control." He laughed, "But it's easier just to think of it as...something like karate or what your movies would call the 'way of the ninja'"
He took a bite of the apple. It was ridiculous how amazing it felt to him to eat fresh fruit like this. Most of the stuff that he was able to trade for was usually dried and definitely not as crisp and juicy as this. "This is amazing. Thanks again."
