To Peri
It had been decided by English and Ace that the Halloween party would be the perfect time for Bit to make her move into the Wolve's tribe. She'd worked on her look all day and the night before, had made sure that the clothes she was wearing were disheveled and hardly respectable at all. If she were going to pass as a lonely drifter everything she owned was going to have to be left behind and the only thing that she would be able to call her own were the clothes on her back. The story that she would tell was playing over and over in her head to make sure that she knew every minute detail by heart. She knew that if one thing was off, if she hesitated on any answer the whole thing would be blown and she'd have not only disappointed Ace, but surely get herself into extreme danger.
Bit waited behind the crowd, cowering herself into a darkened corner where the light from the lanterns only flickered across her every so often. Bit listened as Wolf admonished her tribe, scolded them for an action that anybody would've taken and she turned her anger into tears. Tears that play perfectly into her sad tale. It was actually rather perfect, she thought, that he starts the night by commemorating the very key to her plan.
Bit looked around when Wolf had finished talking, looking for the girl that English had assured her would help her see Wolf. She scanned the room, masks blurring into different masks until she saw the Peri's long blonde hair. Bit crept through the room, her arms pulling the long sleeves of her flannel shirt tightly around her waist. It was too big, a shirt that she'd found on a scavaging trip. Her jeans were muddied and frayed, holes on each knee with boots that were scuffed and coming loose from their soles. Bit turned her attention once again to Peri and her flowing white dress.
"Please," Bit whispered, a shaking hand reaching out to touch Peri's arm. "Please. Can you help me?"
