"Well, Diana...I have a hunch that I know what is causing this stomachache, considering what you've told me about yourself and how you've felt lately. So, I'd like you to take this and we'll find out whether or not my hunch is correct..."
Just hours before, Diana had been in the doctor's office, being handed a standard pregnancy test. She had never been more afraid in her life...what if she was really pregnant? What then? She'd done as she was told and waited the torturous moments until the pregnancy test gave her the verdict. A little pink plus...positive. Tears sprang to her eyes almost immediately. They were tears of surprise and tears of fear.
That same pregnancy test was in her purse. She'd lied about the doctor's appointment to her parents and to Eleanor, but there was one person that she wouldn't be able to lie about it to. And that was Sam. She was definitely pregnant, and he was the father of her baby. Diana tried her best not to cry and keep a pleasant face as Eleanor drove her to see Sam, but it was difficult. She was so scared and never had been more scared in her entire life. She was so young to be pregnant. Only fourteen years old. It had the potential to turn her entire world upside down in a bad way if things went wrong. If Sam didn't want to keep the baby or, even worse, if he didn't want to be with her anymore because she was having a baby...she didn't know what she would do.
Once she came up to the motor home after walking the short distance from where Eleanor had dropped her off, she knocked on the door. Sam knew that she was coming because she'd called him beforehand. She needed to see him. Even though it was possible that seeing him could upset the balance of her world, his presence would be the only thing to put her at ease.
