It hurt him, when she brought up the complete truth of the matter. He hadn't been much of a believer in anything his whole life, but since the Ans Virus had changed the world, he found himself believing in many things. He believed that Mouse was going to survive this. He believed that he could keep the farm in his own hands with the help of his friends. He also believed that eventually he would find away to fight off the Lions that were knocking at their door, trying to push their territory out into Grey's farmland. He had no idea why he believed these things because to many they would seem impossible, but to Grey they were just facts.
"I do know that," he whispered knowing how late it was and knowing how his voice carried, "and you will never have to apologize for this or think you owe me anything. He laughed lightly, trying not to actually think of his Mum. Not now anyhow, there were enough emotions in this situation without adding the loss of his parents to it. "Now, try to get some sleep. You've got a big day ahead of you tomorrow, because I'm expecting you to eat a meal... or at least part of one."
