In search of a solution..
Who: Psych (and some NPC Twin Feathers) - Narrative
When: Week 2 - Week 6
What: The conquest for Solar Energy
Rated: G
It was simple what the problem was a heavy dependance on the Mountain Lions for power they did not so easily give up. That was actually one of the furthest things from Psych's mind as he came up with the idea for making solar energy fully possibly for all tribes in general. Before the Virus the talk of solar power and wind power were rather big issues with how the Earth was fighting to be green. They certainly turned Green rather fast with over half the population wiped away and seeming to get smaller by the day. Maybe the virus was really just one of mother nature's jokes against humanity.
Try to cheat the way things should be going and end up wipe out. Peachy. And now came Earth's way of Natural Selection as he was rather sure that any kids that head any type of disease was now perished and decomposing as well.
The idea for Solar Energy had been playing in his mind for a long while now. The idea of haranassing the sun's power dated back to the Anciet Greeks and if they could harnass it in those primative times it could not be so hard to recreate it. And if he could talk the Wolves into helping out with Windmills in the spring perhaps wind power could be added.
As for now he was just concerning himself with heating. First he talked it over with Kestral who ordered him to create a list for her to give to other Twin Feathers, so they could go looking for materials needed so he could try out his experiment. He had no idea if it would work and made no promises to anyone. This was only for heat, to trap the heat in the day and let it out into the tree houses at night. Still, the idea caught on like wild fire as everyone got tired of being ice cubes throughout the winter.
They did not have the computer power to bring lighting and full power into the treehouses but he was rather sure they could install at least three treehouses as 'warm rooms' place that members of the tribe could go to for warmth without a dangerous fire.
Solar roof ponds were his current goal, they are a unique solar heating and cooling technology developed. A basic system consists of a roof mounted water bladder with a movable insulating cover. This system can control heat exchange between interior and exterior environments by covering and uncovering the bladder between night and day. When heating is a concern the bladder is uncovered during the day allowing sunlight to warm the water bladder and store heat for evening use. When cooling is a concern the covered bladder draws heat from the building's interior during the day and is uncovered at night to radiate heat to the cooler atmosphere.
Members of the tribe got the material and started to work on it immidiately. The roof ponds were made and installed onto three of the houses, houses people would be welcome into for some warmth. Three was all they would be able to managed for now though throughout the winter Psych intended to go further.
He wanted to get the other tribes involved but only if this experiment worked. No need to get everyone's hopes up if the simplest of ideas fell through. He just hoped the sun would be shiney and bright throughout the winter, despite the below zero temperatures.
