Meg nodded. At least Laura had a family here to support her. Her own family were people she felt were more strangers than anyone she would ever support or feel nurtured by. She hated every single one of them and for a good reason - none of them gave to shakes about her either.
“Having people here who love and support you isn’t ever a bad thing. Maybe this place isn’t ideal but you have your family here with you to fight through it. I think you’re luckier than a lot of people.”
The comment hadn’t come unkindly, just with a bit of support. Her smile grew and Meg nodded, “Great! I would love to have someone else here. Most of the time it’s just me. There is one elderly woman who stops by once in a while to volunteer but she’s...well, she’s here more for the tasting and less for the helping.” Solid help was a true gift.
