Ehren couldn't think about things like that anymore, because it wasn't ever going to happen again.

Sadly this is how his thinking was. He was constantly over-analyzing every situation to the point where he had no idea what to do anymore. Would he wake up in the morning to hear that an island resident had died of alcohol poisoning? Would the gesture be unappreciated? Was Logan a government spy? Sadly, those things were out of his control and that was why he felt constantly tortured.
