At her response Ehren furrowed his brow and as she began to walk away, he lightly grabbed her arm to stop her from going any further. “Hey, I didn’t say that. You’re not a bitch.” He replied, setting his beer down to turn her around completely.
“Listen, I’m sorry, I know you’re not like the rest of them, I just, I’m not very good at this.” Talking to new people, trusting new people, giving up his own insecurities to make new friends. It didn’t seem like something he should do since bad things seemed to always happen to people around him.
In truth, it was dangerous for him to be talking to her. Not even a week prior he’d been detained for following government employees. Surely conversing with one in public would draw attention to himself, but Hannah wasn’t like other government employees. Hannah was a hostage too.
