Tuesday he had spend the day training. His chip had been turned off and they'd decided to push his resistance to it's limits. They filled rooms full of toxic fumes and had him teleport inside and try to accomplish tasks while he was still immune. All day. He was still very tired and while he didn't remember much about his time at the "Mutant Training Facility" in Nevada, he always had horrible dreams the night after such trainings. He was never sure why.
So, when Wednesday came, he got his morning work out done and decided to go for a walk, try to clear his mind of the residual dread from his dreams. Jake happened upon a scene that always got to him. He didn't equate the asshole guard as a sign the government at large was an asshole (seeing as he was part of that system), or that it was broken or corrupt. He saw it as one jerk who just happened to work for the government. "Oi! Watch where you're going." Jake said to the guy as he walked away.
The man, who was objectively bigger than Jake despite the fact that Jake himself could be imposing, turned angrily to see who'd said that. Recognition hit the man when he saw the young teleporter. Granted Jake didn't outrank anyone, but many of the guards were wary around the mutant agents, chipped or not. "Not worth my time." He shook his head and walked off.
Jake turned back to the girl and smiled. "Sorry about that. Some guys are just jerks. You were looking for the clothing shop?" As he had a moment to actually look at April he oculdn't shake that he knew her from somewhere... if he could only put his finger on it.
