From behind her his voice floated. She smiled, biting at her lip and twisted to look at him over a shoulder. As he approached Kyrie waited with patience, nodding, “Of course I did.” She wouldn’t accept an offer only to back down on it without a very good reason in place before. It didn’t seem fair to Jakob, hiding in her house all the time. And she was glad she had felt brave enough to venture out.
Her eyes would drift toward the large grills. She watched the plume of smoke, finding the aroma delightful on the breeze. “It does. But it’s good every year.” There had been enough of these to offer a sample of cuisine she otherwise would never have eaten in her life.
And then she laughed, looking down at herself, studying her clothes. “I figured why not, right?” Lifting her eyes she offered a warm smile. “Party?” He had a playful look in his eyes that she didn’t want to see scamper away. “As much as we can, sure.”
