Characters: Avery Rollins & Jake Hale Setting : Early evening, Friday February 2 at Avery's apartment. Summary : Jake & Avery finally get to hang out after he's been locked up for a month. Rating : TBD but probably adorable pg fluff.
It'd been a whole month. Her bruises were almost all gone - some of the worst ones, particularly on her legs were still a yellowish brownish color, and of course her wrist was still in a cast. Her ribcage was all healed up, though, and she was generally moving around without much trouble. It was funny how much a month could change, and though Avery had become a little more self-sufficient, a little better at controlling her ability, and a little more accepting of herself and this place over the course of the last four weeks, she was still positively distressed without Jake. She had Chris, of course, who was very helpful. Rahim had been helping her with control. Zayne and the others in the support group were always helping her out, just being there and talking.
None of it, though, compared to the kind of safety and happiness she felt when Jake was around. Maybe it was reliving some of the past, how safe she had felt back then, too. Although being away from him for so long put some things in perspective. Even without him around, she had some of those feelings - the ones deep in the pit of her stomach when she thought about him, that maybe meant she liked him more than just as friend, though she found those feelings difficult to identify. She'd never had these feelings before - not herself, uninfluenced, and the reassurance that they were her own feelings was nice. What scared her more was the idea that maybe the feelings she thought she caught from him were actually feelings she was forcing on him. She wondered if the time away from each other had changed his mind about her.
Although Jake had technically gotten out yesterday, Avery didn't want to seem needy or clingy - she wanted to give him his space to enjoy relaxing in his own bed, taking a shower in his own shower, whatever. So she'd waited until today to message him, asking if he'd want to come over. Part of her was nervous that things might be different, that something may have broken while Jake was locked up, but she sucked it up and made some coffee, set a few cookies on the table and busied herself with making her apartment look nice.
