With a nod the young chef pulled away from the door, gesturing inside before leading the way back to the dining room where the food was set out. "Well being the first comes with perks I suppose, like getting to help yourself to whatever you wish. Though in a potluck, I suppose it's not as high a prize since there isn't a lot of other option on hand just yet." When the introduction was offered Adam flashed another earnest smile their way before waving back at the little one again. "It's nice to meet you both, and thanks for coming. I wasn't sure there'd uh...well I didn't know if anyone would show up at all."
Okay so maybe he hoped his sister might arrive at some point, but if no one else made it then at the very least he'd get to hear Zoe chime in about taking home the leftovers. When Laura mentioned the food smelling good he genuinely blushed for a second before scratching his head. "Well feel free to dig in if you want. It's nothing fancy, just some homemade brats, rolls, and an autumn spice cake with cream cheese frosting. I was tempted to make a lot more, but didn't um...didn't have a clue how many guests I'd be hosting. If not of it appeals, I can always whip up something new though!"
