Humor had always been his go to reaction; the class clown, the kid who did his best to make others smile, always so eager to tell a quick joke. Even if said joke was less then funny. Really it had all started out as a simple effort to get out from under the vast shadow his twin cast over his life. Her big brains not only setting her paces apart, but also ensuring that Adam was all but guaranteed to fall short of the standard Zoe constantly set. At six years old she had already gotten her GED, and there AC starting out in first grade. All while being the elder twin, but a whopping fifteen minutes.
So while he could never catch up to all that Zoe achieved, at the very least Adam knew he could use humor to shine just a little. Where his baby sis was the brains he was the smile. The social kid who seemed laid back, no matter what was going on. Sure it was hard to shrug off the bombshells dropped on him within the last few hours. Hard to find any humor at all in the horrors that were rapidly unfolding in his life. Still when Kyrie smiled his way, and treated him kindly, AC made the effort to do the same. "I wouldn't go so far as saying I'm brave. At most I'll cop to being stoic. Still thanks, for everything."
Between her gentle touch, and soft smile, his own fear was rapidly evaporating away. Sure that exhaustion and pain still lingered nearby, yet at the very least he stopped flinching away. Oh his heart sank a bit when she honestly answered his inquiry, yet despite the overwhelming fear/sorrow/and dread he felt about his present situation....well Adam Parish couldn't stop himself from genuinely, and warmly, laughing for a moment at her offer to walk him home. Sure it hurt to laugh, and he held his sides all the while, but after regaining his composure the man merely nodded his head to accept her offer. Only to let his gaze drift back to the door right behind him.
"Well thank you for escorting me home. Our time together was brief, but memorable all the same. Plus walking with you was far more enjoyable then being dragged here by those guards. I swear I'd leave a negative review but something tells me that shadowy government organizations aren't listed on Yelp. Maybe facebook, but definitely not on Yelp."
