Odd, but he didn't act like a predator. Susie wasn't always the most observant of people, but she wasn't blind to the way he restlessly shifted his balance - it was something she did all too often when in human form too long. The smile was harder to read, but it helped that he didn't move towards her. Something dangerous would have closed in, but the strange man gave her space and that gave her time to think through his words.
The pout wavered. Susie licked her lips, finding her mouth had gone dry. She had to look really closely at the man. He claimed to know her, but that wasn't possible. There was nothing familiar about him at all. She'd never seen anyone like him before, she was pretty certain. And if he'd known her well enough to recognize her after years, he should have been someone she'd recognized.
Susie shook her head. "I'm sorry. There must be some mistake." She spoke softly, afraid of worrying him despite her initial fear. "I've never met you before." Besides, he probably thought she was human. Right now, she looked it, mostly.
