"Well, I do have a photograph. But I don't know if your tastes run toward six-foot ex-Mossad operants. She is a character. I saw her get mugged once." He puffed out his breath and spread his hands. "Or rather, I saw her hospitalize a mugger once. I'm still trying to figure out how to write her into one of my books without her doing the Scary Eyebrow thing and killing the whole idea. But yes, she's perpetually single."
He wrinkled his nose and grinned at the idea of Claudia marrying anyone. "She's made it through her life without a fatal wound or a wedding ring, and she's older than I. Somehow I don't see marital status changing for Claudia either." He shook his head. "She's sort of my unofficial Scary Big Sister, so I have trouble seeing her in those terms even with her legs and penchant for leather."
He nearly spat out his beer at the idea of having a wife stashed somewhere. "No, I uh...I understand some blokes around here are vacationing from their wives, but that's not me. She'd be here, possibly picking out partners with me." A shrug. "Not against the idea of marriage like Claudia, but it hasn't happened."
