(DYLAN and MELINDA enter the kitchen and DYLAN makes sure the door is closed before turning to MELINDA.)
DYLAN: What is it Mel?
(MELINDA leans on the counter, looking at her feet.)
MELINDA: Have you ever had a premonition about something that could rock everyone’s world?
DYLAN: Yeah, I have. Why?
(MELINDA looks up at DYLAN from under her lashes.)
MELINDA: Because I just had one too.
(DYLAN looks at MELINDA in disbelief.)
DYLAN: You what? What did you see?
MELINDA: I’m pretty sure it was the Destined.
(DYLAN pulled out two chairs and sat in one of them, motioning for MELINDA to sit in the other one.)
DYLAN: Here, sit down. Now, tell me exactly what happened.
(MELINDA sits down in the chair and puts her hands together, looking at them as she spoke.)
MELINDA: Well I was up in the attic practicing the five senses thing you told me to try. I was trying to open up my senses for about twenty minutes then gave up. I was going to come down and get something to eat, but when I put my hands on the Book of Shadows to put it back on its podium I got a premonition. It was the Destined, or at least I’m assuming it was them, and they were vanquishing a demon. I’m guessing it was an upper level demon because they were using a Power of Three spell.
(DYLAN put her hand on MELINDA’s.)
DYLAN: Did you see any of their faces?
(MELINDA looks at DYLAN.)
MELINDA: I only saw one of them. Dylan, it was—
(DYLAN holds her hand up to stop her.)
DYLAN: Sh. No, don’t tell me. I think I know who it was.
(MELINDA’s brow furrowed in confusion.)
MELINDA: You do? But how?
DYLAN: I’ve had my own premonition about them. Melinda, you can’t tell a soul. Do you understand? The Elders think it would be a very bad idea.
MELINDA: The Elders? Do they know I had this vision?
DYLAN: No, but they know about mine. In fact, we should let them know about you. Hold on.
(DYLAN sits back in her chair and looks up at the ceiling, calling up to the Elders.)
DYLAN: Hey! A little help down here.
(ELDER 1 orbs into the kitchen, her brow raised and looks from MELINDA to DYLAN.)
EDLER 1: Yes Dylan?
DYLAN: Hi, yeah so Melinda here as the gift of premonitions as well—
EDLER 1: We know; we gave it to her.
DYLAN: Yeah, well, when you gave it to her did you foresee her finding out who one of the Destined was?
(ELDER 1 becomes concerned.)
EDLER 1: She had a vision of them?
(DYLAN nods dramatically.)
DYLAN: She did.
(ELDER 1 looks at MELINDA.)
EDLER 1: Did you see who they were?
MELINDA: One of them.
EDLER 1: Do you know this person?
MELINDA: Yeah, very well actually.
EDLER 1: You mustn’t tell a soul. The Power of Three has to reveal itself. Do you understand that?
MELINDA: Do I have a choice?
DYLAN: Not really. Unless you feel like being the blame for what could be the biggest mass witch hunt sever.
MELINDA: Yeah, no, I’m good thanks.
EDLER 1: You can’t act any differently around this person. Or anyone. You must act as if you never say anything.
(MELINDA looks between ELDER 1 and DYLAN.)
MELINDA: Can I at least talk to Dylan about it? Since she had a vision about them too?
EDLER 1: I’m afraid not. There’s no way to guarantee that you each saw the same witch.
MELINDA: Can’t I just, like, whisper it to you and you tell me if it’s the same person?
EDLER 1: That won’t work either. I don’t even know who the Destined are.
DYLAN: You all are going through a hell of a lot to protect someone you don’t even know.
EDLER 1: We know them all, remember? We chose their destinies. We just don’t know who got the powers specifically. We first met them when they were naught but thoughts.
MELINDA: So I can’t say anything to anyone about this until the Power comes out, correct?
EDLER 1: Yes, that is correct.
MELINDA: And when will that be?
EDLER 1: We’re not entirely sure. We think soon, but we have no way of knowing.
MELINDA: Awesome, I’m going to have gray hairs by the time I’m twenty one.
DYLAN: Hey now. I’m twenty one and have no gray hairs thank you very much.
EDLER 1: Hopefully, it won’t take that long for the Power to resurface, Melinda.
MELINDA: Hopefully. Okay, well, we better get back out there before they barge in here.
(ELDER 1 nods and orbs out. DYLAN and MELINDA stand up from the table and DYLAN pats her on the back as they exit the kitchen.)
DYLAN: Good to have you on board the Boat of Silence.
