Psyche only acknowledged the girl with a sharp flick of her eyes before she surreptitiously edged more in front of the girl, in case something went for her.
Blast after blast went flying at the contractor, alternating between fast small, forceful ones and slower but longer reaching ones. He couldn't keep dodging forever but Psyche couldn't keep throwing away her power on him when the bomber was still up there. She didn't have the same ammo pool she used to.
She was still testing the limits of the invisible 'wall' that'd stopped her. And she felt it. The space she had to move or hang around the pillars was shrinking and starting to push away at her. It was either going to force them to move further back to keep cover or...into the open if she wanted to keep pressing forward for a chance at the hatter. It was a risk but she didn't have much choice.
She sucked in a calming breath. This would be much easier if she was alone. She ordered under her breath, "Stay behind me."
And she darted out as far as she could get with that uneven force impeding her, sending a low, long blast at his lower section, hoping to catch him off balance.
